Battlefield 3 System Requirements (Can’t Play it on your Computer?)

Primary tabs

Battlefield

The main reason a lot of you will buy Battlefield 3 for is the multiplayer gaming. You will not be disappointed in that area, especially since it supports 64 person multiplayer games (this is for PC only). Patrol the skies in an aircraft or fight on the ground in a vehicle or on foot. Battlefield 3 has beautiful graphics with good detail on objects when you look at them close up. Since they upped the ante in the graphics department this means that your old Battlefield 2: Bad Company gaming PC needs to be upgraded. Battlefield 2’s minimum processor is any Intel Core2Duo. So

even if you have an older, slow 1.8 GHz Core2Duo it will run. Battlefield 3 raises this requirement to an Intel Core2Duo 2.4 GHz. The Battlefield 2: Bad Company minimum graphics card is the GeForce 7800 GT. Battlefield 3 raises the minimum requirement to a GeForce 8800 GT. It is also important to note that unlike BF2, the newer Battlefield 3 does NOT support Windows XP. It only works on Windows 7 and Vista (32 and 64-bit). Looking at the Battlefield 3 minimum PC system requirements closely, it is the most hardware demanding PC game out as of 2011. There are games that come close like Crysis 2’s system requirements, but Battlefield 3 edges it out since it requires a bit faster processor. If you really want to get the full detail with beautiful graphics being displayed on your HD LCD I highly recommend having a quad-core processor and a GeForce GTX-series graphics card. Either way please compare your PCs system specifications with Battlefield 3s system requirements. If you have any problem installing or playing Battlefield 3 smoothly on your computer or if you are not sure if your PC is compatible with Battlefield 3 feel free to ask for help in the comments section below. It would help a lot if you give us the following info about your computer when you ask for help… - Do you have Windows 7 or Vista? (also is it 32 or 64-bit?) - Processor on your computer? - Amount of RAM on your computer? - Graphic card on your computer? - Do you have a Desktop or Laptop? If you are unsure of any particular computer specification your PC may have that is not a problem. Go to this website to test your computer compatibility with the game Battlefield 3. Besides giving you a good estimation on the compatibility of your PC it will tell you your PCs Graphics, Processor and Memory (RAM) specs. Hi Luke :-)

It easily passes all of the Battlefield 3 minimum requirements. You will be able to play BF3 smoothly on low graphics settings. I suggest also testing out medium graphics settings since there is a chance you will be able to play smoothly. The bottleneck on your computer is the graphics card. But no need to replace it until next year unless you want to play at high graphics settings.

Processor: Intel Core i5-450M 2.4 GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Hello,
Thanks for posting all of your specs :-)

The processor and RAM are good, no compatibility issues there. Crysis 2 and Black Ops are compatible with the Radeon HD 5470 but it is below the requirements for Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3 is the most hardware demanding game out right now. Normally with a card like the HD 5470, BF3 would still open and run but play super slow. It is odd that it does not even open up.

One solution I can think of that might fix the problem is a graphic driver update. Last week ATI released new graphics drivers. They solve several issues in some games. I think Battlefield 3 might be one of them. Using the hardware info you gave me I found the exact driver you need to update to. I linked it below.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.as...

After updating to the newest driver it is important that you restart your PC for it to take full effect. Then open up BF3.

PLEASE NOTE: Even if the driver update fix works and you are able to open up BF3 that does not mean it is compatible. To try to make BF3 run the smoothest you need to set the graphics resolution and other graphics settings to the absolute lowest possible. If it is still laggy I suggest installing and running the free version of “Game Booster”.

Hello milady,

Thanks for posting your specs.
Your computer passes the minimum system requirements for Battlefield 3. You will be able to run Battlefield 3 at low graphics settings.

Hi milady,

The system specs you posted are not compatible with the Battlefield 3 minimum system requirements. The 9400 GT is not fast enough and you need more than 1 GB of RAM to play the game. The Intel Core2Duo E7400 processor is fast enough. So if you upgrade the RAM to 2+ GB and buy a faster video card you will be able to play Battlefield 3 on this computer.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 6700
RAM: 2 GB
Graphics Card: 9400 GT
OS: Windows 7

The processor passes the minimum requirements of Battlefield 3. The 2 GB of RAM meets the requirements at the edge. The problem on this PC is the 9400 GT graphics card. It is well below the bare minimum requirements.

You did not state is this is a desktop or laptop. If this is a desktop PC I recommend purchasing a GeForce GT 440 graphics card. You get get one for as low as $70 from NewEgg and Amazon. This will make BF3 compatible.

If you have a little more cash I recommend upgrading to 4 GB of RAM. This will speed things up a bit more.

If you want to really fast Battlefield 3 PC to play at high graphics settings smoothly upgrade to 4 GB of RAM and buy a GeForce GTX 560. Look up prices on NewEgg and Amazon.
