Blacklight: Retribution

Hi there - I found your site through one of the video's you posted on youtube, and I'd like to thank you for providing people with this forum.

Now the problem i'm having is with a new game that was released in open beta yesterday.  The game downloads fine and opens fine, but there are some graphic problems.  The first thing I noticed was the character at the beginning has some blurred area's, like shiny blurrs, and in game it has little white squares that blanket the screen, as well as distorts it.   I've posted a few times in the Tech Support forums but can't seem to get a reply.

System Specs :
Model : Predator G5900
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
Inel(R) Core (TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20 GHz 3.20 Ghz
4 GB RAM
Ati Radeon HD 5570

Requirements:
Minimum:
Windows XP/Vista/7(32bit)
Dual Core CPU
2GB RAM
256MB DX9 GPU (Geforce 8xxx or Radeon HD2xxx)
8GB Free HD Space
DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
Broadband internet connection

Recommended:
Windows 7(64bit)
Quad Core CPU
8GB RAM
1GB+ DX11 GPU
4GB Free HD Space
DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
Broadband internet connection

I downloaded the latest version of Java as you said, but that didn't fix the problem, the game runs on activex 11, which I have also downloaded and updated.  Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Blacklight: Retribution

Hello. Thanks for the compliment :-)

Try the following to see if it could fix the problem…

#1 –Fully update Windows 7. (Some games will not run properly if Windows is not fully updated.) Make sure all of the updates are installed then restart your PC. Check for new updates that popped up after the restart.
If you need it I created a tutorial on this subject: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/How-To-Update-Windows-7-Microsoft-Windows-Update

#2 – Download/Install the latest Radeon HD 5570 Windows 7/Vista drivers from the AMD/ATI site. Since you posted all of your PC info I was able to look it up for you. Download the 148 MB file:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx#1

#3 – Restart your computer after the graphics drivers are installed

#4 – Download and Install the Free version of “Game Booster”: http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
In case you need it I created a video tutorial on how to install and optimize Game Booster. The video is at the end of the article: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/How-To-Get-Less-Lag-Higher-Frame-Rates-running-PC-Games-Game-Booster

#5 – Run Game Booster

#6 – Play Blacklight: Retribution

See any changes? If not then go into the graphic settings and set the DirectX version to “9”. Rendering in DX9 might be a little more stable.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the game in still in “beta” there will be graphic problems and glitches. It might even crash your PC once in a while. This is normal for beta games. If you followed every step of mine above then you optimized your PC the best you could for gaming, your PC is not at fault. Since it is a beta game I assume the creators allow you to email them or contact them in some way with problems? Send them screen shots if you can to tell them what problems they need to correct.

Btw, I am playing the Star Wars game that came out of beta over 2 months ago. Even though there have been a lot of updates since the release date the game still has graphic problems, glitches and randomly crashes my PC. I optimized my PC in every way possible even though I have a fast gaming PC. I talked to people playing the same game as me and they are having the same issues. Now my problem is I have to wait until the makers of the game release patches the fix all of the current problems.
