Duke Nukem Forever System Requirements (Can’t Play it on your Computer?)

Duke

Oh.. My.. Freakin’.. God!! :-O 11 years after it was announced Duke Nukem Forever, the sequel to the mega hit “Duke Nukem 3D” has finally been released! After half a decade passed with the final, realistic release date of it nowhere in sight; I gave up on ever seeing a full version game available for sale at local computer and gaming stores.

Looking at the minimum PC system specifications, Duke Nukem Forever

doesn’t seem to need that tough of a system. That is when you compare it to the current 2011 PC game heavy hitters Crysis 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a game that will work on an old, slow PC, it still needs a decently powered computer to run. If you have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (“GMA”) graphics card, it is NOT compatible. That card is below the bare minimum requirements. If you have a new, Intel HD or any “integrated”/”on-board” graphics card there is a small chance it will run BUT you must have a fast “Core i” 3, 5 of 7 CPU powering your PC. And even then don’t get your hopes up.

If you have any problem installing or playing Duke Nukem Forever smoothly on your computer or if you are not sure if your computer is compatible with Duke Nukem Forever feel free to ask for help in the comments section below.

If would help a lot if you give us the following info on your computer when you ask for help…
- Operating System (also is it 32 or 64-bit?)
- Processor on your computer
- Amount of RAM on your computer
- Graphic card on your computer
- Do you have a Desktop or Laptop?

If you are unsure of any particular computer specification your PC may have that is not a problem. Just follow this tutorial and it will show you how to find all of your PC system specs.

PC MINIMUM System Requirements
• Operating System: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
(Any version of Vista and Windows 7 will work, 32 or 64-bit. XP 64-bit is NOT compatible)

re: Not supported [kakashi]

Hey kakashi. If a graphics card is below the system requirements of a game, usually that means it will run BUT just like you said it will have low FPS and crash. Sometimes if the graphics card is very slow or really old then the game will not even install or if it installs it will not run.

Not supported

So,if the graphics card doesnt support a particular game....The game will never run in that system or will it run with problems..like crashing and low fps etc??

re: "Not supported" [kakashi]

Hey kakashi. It does not matter if you play a game on a laptop or desktop.
Laptop CPUs and graphic cards are generally slower compared to desktops. The reason is that laptop parts need to concentrate on saving battery life, otherwise you would get 15-30 minutes max on a full charge before the battery dies. So a GeForce 9600 GT for a laptop will run a game slower than a 9600 GT for a desktop. This is just 1 of many examples.

The main 3 computer parts that are very important for games are, Processors, Graphic cards and RAM. All 3 parts work together to processor whatever game you play.

"Not supported"

I know many people who play games with graphics card that doesnt meet the minimum requirements(my friend plays crysis 2 with nVdia 6000 seeries card)
So,my question is:
Does the game depend only on graphics card or also depend on wheather it is used in a notebook or desktop,??
Is it true that all laptop chipsets are comparitively underclocked ??

re: Does "not supported" really mean won't work? [Zero]

Hi Zero. Most “Intel” graphics cards will NOT run Duke Nukem Forever. But your HD 3000 version can run it (only at very low graphics settings though). Here is a guy with the same graphics card on a MacBook Pro http://youtu.be/12AoAc8ana4

Just Note: He might have a faster graphics card than you, so his MacBook will run smoother with a faster Intel Core i5 or Core i7.

Does "not supported" really mean won't work?

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro with these specs:
Intel Core i5, 2.3 Ghz
4 GB RAM
Mac OSX 10.6.8
Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384 MB VRAM

I'm somewhat new to Macs, but it has been my experience in the past with Windows pcs that most games can still run smoothly on hardware that is slightly below the minimum requirements (e.g. 2.3 GHZ instead of 2.4 GHZ) if you turn down the graphics, resolution, and turn off the music. My question is if anyone has had any luck with the above Intel graphics card and if it would be worth a try?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

re: Duke Nukem Forever doesn't run [Player One]

Hello Player One. Thanks for posting your specs.
I am sorry to tell you that your laptop is not compatible with Duke Nukem Forever.

The Intel Pentium T3400 CPU and Mobile Intel 4 series express graphics are well below the bare minimum system requirements for Duke Nukem Forever.

Duke Nukem Forever doesn't run

My info:

1) Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
2) Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @2.16GHz 2.17GHz
3) 2.00GB RAM
4) Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
5) Laptop

for Nathan 2.3 GHz CPU, ATI HD 4200 Duke Nukem compatibility

Hi Nathan,

Sorry to say the 2.3 GHz processor and ATI HD 4200 graphics card are not fast enough to run Duke Nukem Forever smoothly.

Do I meet the requirements?

Operating System: Windows 7 64 Bit
• Processor: 2.3 GHz
• RAM: 3 GB
• Video/Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series
• Video card special: DXDiag est. 1401MB
• Sound: DirectX compatible
• Hard Drive: Over 100 GB
Thanks

Downloaded game, played it, now only see cursor on the screen

Hello,

Try using the free version of Game Booster. It might help. Besides speeding up games it disables unneeded Windows processes that can give errors when trying to play a game.

Another thing I thought of is that whoever put up Duke Nukem Forever for download might have placed a virus inside the game. The virus was unleashed into your PC after you first played it. This is just a guess.

BUY THE DAMN GAME

Dont complain cause you downloaded and didnt buy it, buy the game and stop being a thief

i downloaded it and ran

i downloaded it and ran smoothly. the next time i played it, i saw the curser on the screen and i cant do anything. please help.:(
