Guild Wars 2 Help, Can I Run It

Guild Wars 2 officially launched to the general public on August 28th, 2012. If you pre-purchased GW2 (like me) you had 3 days early access on August 25th (actually 9 PM PST on Aug. 24th). I have been playing Guild Wars 2 since they had open beta tests for customers that pre-purchased the game. This is one of the best MMOs I have ever played. The graphics a great, character skill customization is awesome (so many options) and 3 faction PvP is unbelievable. Aside from the gaming aspects that NCsoft and ArenaNet have full control over, one thing they have little control are the people that play the game. For some reason even the people playing GW2 are really cool and helpful. Yes, there are a few trolls but that is expected. On my server the vast majority of people are very helpful and play as a group. If I have one negative thing to say about Guild Wars 2 is that the character storyline is just decent, nothing to rave over. I have this opinion because I am comparing the storyline adventures to Star Wars: The Old Republic. SW:TOR has a phenomenal storyline adventure. I could select various options on how I wanted to take the storyline. The cut scenes were always great and the writing was above par (my main toon was a Sith Juggernaut). SWTOR is a really good game if you love PvE and don’t care much for PvP. But my main passion in MMOs is PvP gaming. Guild Wars 2 exceeded my expectations for PvP gameplay. If you are into MMOs and love to PvP I highly recommend Guild Wars 2. But now a lot of you are wondering, “Can I play it?”, “Will it run on my PC?”, “Is my laptop fast enough to run Guild Wars 2?” No worries. Below I posted the Guild Wars 2 minimum system requirements. If you do not

know how to compare your computer with the hardware requirements I posted below then we can help. Follow my instructions on how to figure out what Graphics card, Processor, RAM amount and Windows version you have, then post your system specs below as a blog comment. We will compare your specs for you and reply with an answer.

Here is how to figure out what Processor, Graphics card, Windows version and how much RAM your PC has.
* Hit the START button, then RIGHT-click "Computer"; select "Properties". A new Windows will pop-up. Within that new Window you will be able to grab the following info...
* Windows version and if it is 32 or 64-bit
* The service pack you have installed will be displayed near the top
* Exact processor model and specs
* How much RAM (aka system memory)your PC has installed
* Next Step: Click the "Device Manager" link at the Top-Left of the Window that you have opened
* Within the new Window that popped up click, "Display adapters"
* Your graphics card model number will be displayed

IF YOU NEED HELP, Please give us the following information about your computer...

I'm pretty much confused about the minimum requirement and several online tools that pretend to tell if you can run the game. My problem is that I want to play it with my girlfriend and I can't be sure if we can run GW2. Here the specs of the two notebook:
Mine:
- Intel Core i3 M330 2.13GHz
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB DDR3
- Ram 4GB

Hers:
- AMD Athlon II X2 M300 2.0 ghz
- ATI HD4570 512MB (up to 2GB shared)
- Ram 4GB

Can you free me from the dilemma about buy GW2 or not?
Thanks in advance and excuse me for my bad english.

Hello,

Both you and your girlfriend will be able to play Guild Wars 2 with those notebooks. But both of you must do a few things to optimize your computers for Guild Wars 2…
Step 1: Fully update Windows on both notebooks. I am not sure if you have Windows 7 or Vista installed, so linked below are both my Windows 7 and Vista tutorials that show you how to fully update Windows.
Windows 7 Tutorial: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/How-To-Update-Windows-7-Microsoft-Windows-U...
Windows Vista Tutorial: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/Learn-How-To-Update-Vista-Using-Windows-Update

Step 2: Update the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 and ATI HD 4570 to the latest drivers form the AMD/ATI site.
Go to this site to get the drivers for both notebooks: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Step 3: After downloading and installing the latest graphic card drivers you must Restart your computers.

Step 4: Install and play Guild Wars 2

ZeroK, you will be able to run Guild Wars 2 on low to medium settings. But your girlfriend has a slower computer. She can only run GW2 at the lowest possible graphic settings or else the game will lag a lot. It will also help your girlfriend if she installed the free app “Game Booster” (maybe it could help you too) http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Thank you very much!! You gave me a good news. It is sure that soon or later I have to buy a desktop pc to play game (and that I have to buy one to my girlfriend too), but for now I will play the best way I can.

My specs are: OS:Windows XP service pack 3, Processor:Intel core 2 duo (i don't understand this but it is written so here you go) T7200 @ 2.00 GHZ,1.99GHZ,2.00 GB of ram, Graphics card: ATI mobility radeon X2300, and finally I have a laptop. But please reply quickly to me because if i don't get it today it might be sold out. And thank you in advance :) .I forgot to mention my laptop ran diablo III but on the lowest settings.

Hi batmann,

When you posted your first time everyone that helps on this site was asleep. That is why we didn’t answer you fast. I will delete the 1st post and answer this one :-)

Your laptop will run Guild Wars 2, but just like Diablo 3 you can only run the game at the lowest settings. I recommend installing/running the free app “Game Booster”. Still even with game booster only play at the lowest settings.
