How-To Enable the Console (and Cheats) in Call of Duty: Black Ops Single Player Mode
Messing around with the console in Call of Duty has always been a fun thing to do in single player mode, especially during the Nazi Zombie levels. Through the console you can activate cheats and other cool
things like an overlay display of your frames per second while playing. Unfortunately Treyarch disabled the single player console feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops during one of their first few updates for the game. Don’t worry, there is a way around this.
The new way of activating the console commands is different from the past. You must first edit the Call of Duty: Black Ops “config.cfg” file. During single player gameplay you still press the “~” key but the console prompt no longer displays. What you are forced to do now is bind each cheat / command to keys on your keyboard within the config.cfg file. During gameplay after the console is enabled in Black Ops single player mode just press the key on your keyboard that is binded to the command you want to initiate.
Here is a list of Commands / Cheats I have for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Please feel free to contribute the commands you know so I can add them to this list (just post a comment below with the command / cheat and exactly what it does)
“cg_drawFPS 1” - Displays the Frames Per Second (This shows how fast your PC is running the game)
“cg_drawFPS 0” - Turns Off the display of FPS
“god” - God mode (nobody can kill you)
“give all” - Gives all weapons (It is supposed to give all weapons to you but I don’t think it gives every weapon, just most of them)
“give ammo” - Gives you full ammo on all weapons
In the following How-To Enable the Console (and cheats) in Call of Duty: Black Ops video tutorial I will take you step-by-step and you will easily learn the following…
1. How-To find the location of the Call of Duty: Black Ops “config.cfg” file you need to edit
2. How-To find the “seta monkeytoy” command within the config.cfg file and edit it to enable the console within single player mode
3. How-To bind commands / cheats to a key on your keyboard
4. How-To make sure all your settings are not changed Call of Duty: Black Ops and make sure the console in single players works
5. In-game Call of Duty: Black Ops Nazi Zombie single player demonstration. You are shown what happens when “god” and “give all” weapons is activated
6. The exact key to press to enable the console in Call of Duty: Black Ops single player mode. The key to press is the “`” key on the keyboard. It is called the “tilde” key.

Annoying teddy bear.
Okay, when I activate "give all" cheat on Zombies, I first equip the M1911 like i never equiped it before. Okay.
Heres the odd part:
It switches auto.
It makes the teddy bear sound every switch.
I cant do anything about it but restart the level.

I assume you are using BootCamp to run Black Ops? If the answer is yes then you just have to find the Steam install folder on your Mac. Then follow the instructions in my videos.

Thanks Skoob for the comment. Usually if it work for someone they rarely come back to this site to comment that it works. As you said if works if you follow what I said word for word. It any step is left out then it will not work.

when i did that it worked for multiplayer but it doesn't work for zombies i followed the exact steps aswell

Those other cheats at the bottom I inputted manually. So just copy what you see on the screen.
NOTE: If the other cheats don't work take out the "quotes".

One of a few of the latest updates might of cancelled out the cheat capabilities.
I came upon something new recently. It is called Cheat Engine.

I have not used it but I have seen several youtubers post Black Ops cheat videos while using that.

Editing Confg file in COD Black Ops
One thing pc users should be aware of is that when I changed the config file, setamonkey1 to 0, The game no longer saved my progress. I went three levels and did the save and quit. When I started it up again the following day, I was started back where I edited the config file. Win 7 64 bit, legal copy of C.O.D. Black Ops through Steam.

When you make all those changes to the config file you must all go into properties and set the file to READ ONLY. Otherwise the game will override the monkeytoy thing and reset it back to 1.

I might be wrong but I think you can only play the single player Black Ops game of the illegal version.
If you just want to tweak the game like I show you in my tutorial look in the COD: Black Ops install folder for a file named "config.cfg". If you can find it then just follow my tutorial.

I am not sure I fully understand your question. If you are asking what methods you can install Black Ops, there are 2 ways. You can buy the game DVD at the store or go online and buy the game at Steam, then you download it from Steam.

Sorry, I never tried using that cheat. I usually just use God Mode. You can try to bind the, no target cheat and see what happens.

My Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-13X can't run the game AT ALL, it even lags ever so slightly on the lowest settings, and don't get me started on hitting "Quit game" (hint: you can wait for days, though the fact that I torrented it might have something to do with that X-|).
Anyway, I played the campaign for like a minute (or slightly less, like 45 secs, then I quit the game forcefully but no players folder.

I need to know the exact specs you have. Checkout my video tutorial at the end of the article linked below. It will show you how to grab your CPU, RAM and Graphics card specs (while testing it for COD: BO compatibility). When I know those specs I could see what you are working with exactly.
Console commands - crossbow
Is there a way to get a list of console commands? I notice that the 'give all' doesn't give you the crossbow and I really would like this weapon. Would there be a console command to give me the crossbow, preferably with explosive tips too?

Hi Ed, I know what you mean, it is a little disappointing that you really don't get all weapons.
Try inserting this command just like you do everything else (like I shows you in my tutorial)

This is only a guess... Can you edit the mounted ISO? Maybe the files are hidden somewhere in there?

I have been doing this since November and I have not get banned.
Just do it in SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. I doubt any of the cheats work in multiplayer but if they do you will get banned for cheating on multiplayer.

After you Save the “config.cfg” file try Closing the file and Wordpad program Before you mark the file as a Read-only.

In properties at the bottom, it should say Read only. Check that.
Whats happening is the game is changing the settings back so its like you never did anything. As for the console, they patched that and you can now only use binds like give all, ect.
Call of Duty: Black Ops folder location | Steam
The only reason the Black Ops folder (that contains the config.cfg file) would not be in the exact location I showed you in the video... During installation, the person who installed it chose to install the Black Ops folder in a different place.
CORRECTION:
There is a 2nd reason the Black Ops folder that contains the config.cfg file. You need to play the game just for a second. Then the folder and file are automatically created. I just found this out after helping 1 of my nephews mod the game.

I tested the cheats in Single Player and Zombie Single Player mode today and they still work. I have never used the Spanish version. It may be different but I doubt it. So you followed every step in the exact order?

Does this config. "binding cheat" only work on the zombie game modes?, I've tryed the key binding program and seta monkeytoy "0" console activation with zero success in single player mode, it works faultlessly in Multiplayer
mode but not in single player mode. Does this mean there is no single player version of said program???

Cheats in Single Player and Zombie SP mode

I finally had some time to test everything out. It worked for me in Single Player mode. God Mode runs perfectly. All ammo works fine. I did notice in both Zombie SP and normal SP mode that All Weapons does not really give you all weapons. It just gives a lot of them. That is the only glitch or negative I found.
