How-To Shorten Long Web Addresses (aka URLs) Using Bit.ly

Some website links are way to freakin’ long. You may want to copy and paste the address into a messenger or post it on a forum but the huge
address is a pain to deal with. There is a service I started using at the beginning of this year which takes any long web address and shrinks it into a very short one in return.
The service is from the website Bit.ly. It is 100% free to use. It is not necessary to sign-up for a free membership to use but doing so allows you to keep track of all the short web links you have created. A really cool feature that I like is that you can also customize your web links. So if the site spit out a URL with the address of www. bit.ly/Y73r94J, you can change it so something like, www. bit.ly/MyCustomLink.
In the following Shorten Web Links Using Bit.ly video tutorial I will take you step-by-step and you will easily learn the following…

Bookmarklets help in shortening and sharing links...
I've used the bookmarklet tbuzz in the past, but now I've fallen for Hootlet because I've begun to use HootSuite for Twitter and I can follow analytics on links I post.
