Location of the Firefox Bookmarks Folder within XP and Vista
Hello Andreas :- )
When I first was looking for the Firefox Bookmarks folder within Windows I got frustrated and almost gave up after a long time searching for it. I finally found an article somewhere at the Mozilla site that told me about it.
To find your Mozilla Firefox bookmarks you must FIRST Enable the, “View Hidden Files and Folders” setting within XP or Vista. If you are unsure how to do this that is not a problem, just checkout this tutorial: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/Learn-How-To-Change-Settings-Hidden-Files-F...
Then here is the location of the Firefox Bookmarks folder…
In Windows Vista:
C:\Users\Your-UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Your-Profile-Name
In Windows XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\Your-Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Your-Profile-Name
Find bookmark

How-To Backup and Restore Your Internet Explorer Bookmarks
A USER ON YOUTUBE ASKED THE FOLLOWING QUESTION…
"I backup my bookmarks from Firefox 3 (Json File)
so i can import them to Firefox 2. I backup to "Json" not "HTML"...."
When someone backs up their bookmarks with Firefox 3 they usually restore it to another computer with Firefox 3. Another reason a person might backup their Firefox 3 bookmarks is when they are wiping out and restoring their computer due to a virus or operating system problems. In that case they would just reinstall Firefox 3 and restore the bookmarks.
In all cases I would recommend upgrading the computer with Firefox 2 to Firefox 3. Then restore the bookmarks. If for some reason you can’t perform an upgrade to Firefox 3 then you have to do the following steps to backup Firefox 3 bookmarks and restore them to Firefox 2…
Use my video tutorial on how to backup bookmarks on Firefox 3. But when you are at the part where you click the, “Import and Backup” button you choose, “Export HTML” and save it that way.
To Restore Firefox 3 Bookmarks to Firefox 2 you do the following steps…
- Like Firefox 3 you go to, Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks. Then you will get a, “Bookmarks Manager” window popup.
- You choose, File -> Import -> From File. Select your backed up bookmarks and click the, “Open” button.
- It will restore a folder named, “Bookmarks Toolbar” to your Firefox 2 bookmarks section.
- Highlight everything in that folder then, Drag & Drop it in the, “Bookmarks Toolbar Folder”. The only bookmark which will not transfer correctly is the, “Most Visited” bookmark since that is a new feature as of Firefox 3.
