Tablet

Hi,

My girl wants an Ipad but I heard there weren't that good because of compatibility and so I though it is better a Tablet of any other branch.
What would you guys recommend me? IPad or any other Tablet? which Tablet?

Thanks,
Rojo

Re: Tablet

Go with any new Android tablet which recently came out that has a dual core CPU.

I have the Viewsonic G Tablet (dual core Android) and it's so fast n smooth. But that is NOT for her unless she is a super geek since she has to mod it in order for it to work really good.

Lookup LG, Samsung and I think there are 2 more good ones out or coming out this summer. Do not buy the Motorola one, too expensive.

Here is a link to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1's info website

It should be out this week, if not this month.

Re: Tablet

Hi Joey,

Sorry I didn't write you back.

The Samsung Galaxy has the same price as the Motorola Xoom which you told me is too expensive. Friends are asking me which tablet will be good to buy, I'm guessing with a cheaper price.

My father has the Motorola Xoom is crazy.. lol but I'm a laptop person... somehow I don't like the screen touch.

np Rojo  :)

Wow. I thought the new Galaxy tab would be a lot lower in price then the Xoom.

Here are lower priced Dual Core Android tablets. I recommend reading all of the reviews on Amazon. Take note as to what the reviewers are using the tablets for and if they appear to have similar uses or similar computer experience as your g/f. From there you will know which one is best for her.

Dell Streak 7" - http://amzn.to/mOLY5j
Dell Streak 7" with 4G - http://amzn.to/ldElqG

Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1" - http://amzn.to/kMXfMp

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-A1 10.1" - http://amzn.to/iZ8Ygj

When I bought my Viewsonic dual core tablet I knew it was the one for me since all the negative reviews were coming from people that wanted it to run great out of the box without any customizations. The positive reviews were all from the geeky people that wanted an easily hackable, customizable tablet with a fast dual core CPU. I knew it was for me, but the Viewsonic would not be that great for most.

Re: Tablet

There is an older or smaller version of the galaxy which is cheaper do you know if its a good tab?

Now is my g/f and her brother lol... they are going to use it most for the University and for fun I'm guessing... is not like a professional think or anything, they both are into administrative careers so.. yeah haha I just don;t want them to buy some crappy thing.

Thanks Joey

Re: Tablet

Do not buy the original, older Galaxy. It has a slow CPU and will probably not be able to update to the latest Android OSs coming out. Even if it does it might run them sluggishly compared to dual cores.

Re: Tablet

Oh OK Joey I'll talk to them to see what do they decide.

Thanks for your help :P and last question, of the ones you show me which one would be the best one?

Re: Tablet

:)

Out of all 3 I'd pick the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-A1. I prefer the bigger 10.1” screen over the smaller Dell 7”. Also the Transformer has a slightly longer battery life and is slightly lighter.

But this is Just Me. I am sure your g/f will think the Dell and Acer are “cuter”. The Transformer has the ugliest physical design that makes it “not cute”. The Acer Iconia has been reviewed to have a better quality camera and if you look at it, it has a better physical design that looks like it can take a couple of more drops on the floor than the Transformer.

So for your choice I'd say go with the Acer Iconia due to the fact that it has a sleeker, more solid design that makes it look cuter than the Transformer and it has a 10.1” screen which is bigger than the Dell 7”.

Alternatively if your g/f wants something that has 4G Wireless Anywhere Internet, the only choice you have is the Dell 7 (of course you would have to get a T-Mobile 4G monthly plan to go with it).

Re: Tablet

Hi Joey

Sorry for the delay I just went back to classes...

I look those up but there price it goes closed enough to the Motorola Xoom, I think she wants something cheaper like for around $300 max.

Thanks Joey :)

Re: Tablet

When the Xoom came out it was at $700-$800, I still thought it was that high. I guess since nobody wanted to pay that much they had to lower down the price to get rid of inventory, lol.

If $300 is your price range then you have 2 options for a dual-core tablet…
#1 Dell Streak 7”

#2 Viewsonic 10” gTablet
This is the 1 I have. In order to get it running awesomely you must mod it. Change the operating system to Cyanogenmod 7.0.x (this is like going from buggy Vista to Windows 7)

Here is the Wiki on modding it: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Viewsonic_G_Tablet:_Full_Update_Guide

Here is the Cyanogenmod site for it: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/188-viewsonic-g-tablet/

NOTE: Before you any tablet make sure you read through all of the reviews on Amazon
