How-To Disable Firefox’s Built-In Spell Checker

The automated spell checking Firefox feature is one of my favorites. I love how it corrects my spelling when I am typing on Gmail, posting a comment on a blog or forum and various other places. When the spell checker does not recognize a word or name I can easily Add it to the built-in dictionary.
I have had people tell me that it annoys them. They asked me for help on how to disable the feature. I am assuming the person who wants this feature disabled writes a lot of Internet slang and abbreviations. In that case all the red squiggles would be rather annoying. Either way it’s your computer, your Firefox browser and you can customize it any way you like.
