I put the disc in and the options come up to play and it goes to the language menu (attached), click English and it doesn`t go any further. Other dvd discs play on my computer. I tried the movie on another computer and two standalone dvd players and it plays no problem at all. Is there something missing on my computer? Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So all other DVD movies play on your computer except that one?
What is the movie? Are there any special features on the DVD movie like extra stuff for computers only? Or a computer software movie player that comes on the DVD?

What is the movie? Are there any special features on the DVD movie like extra stuff for computers only? Or a computer software movie player that comes on the DVD? Yes only this particular one, Old Dogs, burned by a friend on a double layer disc. No, no extras and computer software movie player. Strange that it plays on another computer and two standalone dvd players. I tried wmp-media player classic and vlc and they all come to the menu and go no further. When i click on english it shows finished at the bottom left. Attached Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Joey--- Thank You, i tried easy dvd player and the same thing happened. It goes to the menu, i click on english and it goes no further. I notice that when i click on english "finished" appears at the bottom left below it. Also the titles are listed on the right. Could it have something to do with autoplay?:)Attachments Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.us

See if you can borrow the original DVD movie, not a copy. And see if that original DVD movie player on your computer without a problem.

Joey--- See if you can borrow the original DVD movie, not a copy. And see if that original DVD movie player on your computer without a problem. Well, this is amazing. I was foolin around with DVD Shrink and clicked on "open disc" and it went through the preview/analysis and it came up(attached), and then i clicked on "re author", nothing happened, so i went out of DVD Shrink and tried the the problem disc, and i don`t believe it, the movie played. I haven`t got a clue what i did. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.us

Did you get a hold of an original copy and see if it played?

Hi Joey i`m still trying to solve this problem of dvds not playing. I found the following though>I have the region code set to "4".(correct for Australia). I insert any dvd disc and the region code changes to "1". I take the disc out and the region number changes back to "4". I thought when a region code is set it would stay at that setting. I did a drive info tool and the results are in my attachment. Also i get another message when i insert some discs. attached.

Okay, I see now. According to your pics it might be a region code problem.
I have an idea. Do you have a friend that has a DVD player on their computer that plays any region? If so can you test out your disc on their computer? See if there is any issues.

Yes, I looked at the region code in device manager in my son`s computer and it showed region 4 for Australia. I inserted 4 dvd movie discs and then after ejecting them i had a look again at the region code in device manager and the code is still 4. It didn`t change to 1. So it hadn`t changed like i said in my computer, i.e. insert the disc and the region code changed to 1. Eject the disc and the region code goes back to 4. The message attached appears with some discs, not all. I set the code to 4. I thought it is supposed to stay at that.

What I am guessing is the DVD movie itself is a region 1 DVD. Your home-TV DVD players are probably able to read all or at least multiple region codes. And the DVD players on the computer are restricted to your own region.

I replied to to your private message. It was set at 'region free' so i unticked that and set it to "4". I can`t find anything in Nero Smart Start 8 to set regions. Edit:-I checked back on where i unticked region free and set it to "4" and it didn`t stick, it changed back to region free ticked.

For testing purposes download the trial and see if it works. http://www.slysoft.com
