Hi there

I have couple of PC's used by alot of people each time and I suffred from Trojans and worms  and stuff like that due to the use of unsafe USB devices .

I would like to add another option in the Auto play, once the device is connected to start scaning  for Trojans and viruses automatically using the installed security software (Sophos , Avira , G data , SuperAntispyware ......etc). I am using XP pro

I would like to do that without installing a tool or stuff like .

Many thanks

At my work most of the viruses were transferred via AutoPlay when inserting a USB drive. The best method against this was to disable AutoPlay. The cheap anti-virus program that is installed on most of them does not offer the ability to autoscan USB drives when inserted. But on the 2 Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 machines I have this feature enabled. Whenever a USB drive is inserted it automatically performs a full scan on it.

I can show you how to disable AutoPlay if you would like? I can also show you how to make Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 scan USB drives when inserted. I prefer to not use any another Anti-Virus programs since Kaspersky (I.M.O.) is the best.

Hi Joey

Many thanks for your advice , I know  how to disable the Auto run feature in XP and Vista but the problem is that I need to use or to add another option to the Auro run to start scaning the flash . I know kaspersky is one of the best but we are currently using Sophos Antivirus and a-squre for Trojans and spyware .
I remeber that one day I came a cross sych a way to do this by adding a registry key but totally forgot .

Regards

If you are using Sophos Antivirus I would recommend thoroughly checking all the settings and options of that program and see if there is anything that deals with USB / Removable devices or autorun. There is a chance it might have it.
