I have Windows 7 64 bit running a gtx590 with 290.53(beta) drivers and msi afterburn.

I usually play a lot, bf3 in ultra so the temp of the cartd usually rises to 82°C and in high to 76°C. Never had a problem until yesterday when i had 2 blue screens related to the graphic drivers, until now i never had a problem with the version of the drivers, its almost a month since nvidia release them, however i decided to unistall them and intall the latest stable version i think its 28x.xx

That woked for 5min until i tried to watch a video, then the monitors went black and i had to reboot the pc, then when windows was loading several red stripes appear horizontally and the loading of the OS freezed. When i rebooted again the red stripes appear again but now also in the bios screen.

I have already checked both monitors and they work fine, also im not overclocking my pc. The average temp of the video card is 70°C considering i play a lot.

I dont know if this a sing that the card burned of thast is some kind of virus, i dont think its the second option because its affecting the bios screen and thast kind of viruses are not mented for mortalsso my question is how can i know the condition of my graphic card?

The card doesnt smell like burned and there isnt any strange bumps in it.

Hope you can help me and thak you for your time.

Hello. To verify it has nothing to do with software or leftover driver issues do the following…

#1 – Make sure you downloaded the correct drivers. These are the correct, stable drivers you are supposed to have on your system right now: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-285.62-whql-driver.html
Download the drivers but DO NOT install them yet.
(Also, if those are the current drivers you downloaded but you already deleted the install file from your PC, you must download them again since you will need them in the last step.)

#2 – Download / Install “Driver Sweeper” from here: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

#3 – Download / Install the free version of “CCleaner” from here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

#4 – Open up Driver Sweeper. Uninstall everything you see under “nVidia”, “GeForce” and “Ageia”. When the whole process is complete go on to step #5. If it asks you to restart your PC, DO NOT do it.

#5 – Open up CCleaner. Run the “Cleaner” and “Registry” options. When you are done go to the next step.

#6 – Install the nVidia driver you downloaded during step #1 above
When the install is complete restart your PC.

I tried all that however i couldnt fully unistall the beta drivers, not even with the driver sweeper or the registry cleaner. So i performed a clean install of windows again, i formated my hd and reinstall the os and the latest stable version of the graphic card drivers.

Until now everything is ok, i ll have to perform some benchmarks in order to stress the card and see what happends, what do you think?

Thank you for your time =D

Reinstalling Windows is hard core Grin It definitely is a better option at making sure everything is thoroughly uninstalled / deleted.

I believe your problem is solved. The issue is that the beta driver was messing with the stable driver. That was causing the issues.

btw, thanks for updating us on how you fixed it. I am sure there are a lot more people with the same issue you have, they are just too shy to post on here  Smiley
