Hi Joey,

I love your page, when I have free time I would look it up because it always have something interesting in it. Tongue

Well this is the thing: I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, with Windows Vista since 3-4 years ago, and right know I can feel is going slower like some times it freeze, or it kind of open programs super slow and things like that. So, I was wandering how do you know when you have to change let say the RAM cards or parts of the laptop, and/or is there anything that can check how well my laptop works?

Hello  Smiley

A PC is expected to slow down after owning it for a while. There are various factors that can contribute to this. I wrote up a post that shows you how to fully optimize your Windows PC. You will have to do some work but it is all free methods (compared to taking it into a shop and them charging you $100-$200 to perform the same thing or probably less).

Hi Joey,

I saw the link you told me, and I have been doing that already hehehe.
Now my laptop is starting to have real problems. The other day it shut down by it-self and didn't want to turn on again, my guess is the battery because it happen when I had it disconnected from the adapter so I order a new one, still some weird things have been happening; I use a separated mouse, a cord mouse, and from no where it stop working and so I try with the mouse of my laptop and it also doesn't work for a while.

I know you may tell me I should take it to someone to look at my laptop, but if you think of anything I'm always glad to know it. Smiley

Laptop information:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Sony Vaio
RAM 1,00GB
32-bit Operating System
Processor Genuine intel 1.60Hz
I don't know if that would help with anything.

Also I wanna to ask you, which laptop would you suggest me to buy? Is not for a specific thing I just wanna to know.

Thanks again for your help, you are great Joey.

Hi Rojo  Smiley

You are correct in assuming that the 1st issue has to do with a messed up battery that needs replacement. On rare occasions I noticed it is not a defective battery it is some defect within the laptop that does not charge it’s laptop battery anymore. But this very rarely happens. Most of the time it is a defective battery.

This might solve various system problems you are having…….
I am thinking you have had that laptop for 3-4 years? What I recommend is that you do is reinstall Windows using the original factory CDs or DVD that came with your computer. Sometimes it is already built in and you just have to press one of the “F” keys when the computer is barely turned on to activate it.
When you reinstall Windows it might give you 2 options… 1 option might be for a basic restore/reinstall and the 2nd might say something like “destructive” or that it will thoroughly wipe out all of your info. Choose the option that sounds the harshest, that will be best.
If you have any important files on your computer you don’t want to lose you must save them to a USB drive or burn them to a DVD.

If you don’t plan to play any serious games on your laptop like Sims 3, Starcraft 2 or COD: Black Ops then I recommend any laptop with an Intel Core i3 processor. You will love it

If you plan to play any specific games like the ones I just mentioned please post them and I will pick out a specific laptop that is powerful enough to play it. The laptops that are powerful enough to play serious PC games should have a Core i5 or i7 CPU and a very good video card. They will also cost a lot more than the Core i3 laptops.

As far as brands are concerned my favorites are HP, Dell and Toshiba. I think Asus is also a good brand right now.

Hi Joey,

Well I'm going to wait until the new battery arrives to see if it gets fix. I just change the adapter yesterday and it seems like is working better. I'll tell you how went with the new battery and if goes bad I'll do what you told me to do. And yes I have had my laptop since 3 years ago. I think my laptop is one of the defective VAIO that over hit and burn because some parts of the cover body of the laptop is burn must of all where I place my hands and some times my arms.

About a new laptop, I don't play does games, but I do play games in my laptop. The heaviest one that I had play would be WOW (World of Warcraft). But I will like a realy nice one and because I do not know much about it I though that maybe the best one it would be the Dell Alienware, but it cost up to $3.000.00 and that is just to much for me hehehe.

Thanks Joey, Thank you very much ^^

I picked for you a really good laptop. You will be very happy with it. It can easily play WOW at full graphics settings/full resolution. It will also play almost any game out right now.

Hi Joey,

I'm still looking for a new laptop and I have two options right now, I would like your opinion and/or if you think there is a better one. Here are the links for the laptops:

XPS 17 With 3D Laptop Screen

HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition series

Go with the HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition series. Or get a Dell XPS that is NOT "3D". There is not that much "3D" software out right now. In 2 years things might change, just not now.

Hi Joey,

Sorry I have been taking your time with this, I just don't wanna spend money in a crappy laptop.

I was so close to buy the HP, but in that moment I talk to a friend who knows better than me about this things, and he was like.. that is an alright laptop.. so I ask him why, I was expecting like an a "that's an excellent laptop", so he told me that HP wasn't that good that I should look up to Dell and Toshiba and that Toshiba were the best, he also told me that I should look for a AMD Processor because those were better for graphics.

I'm so confused right now, I just want a High performance laptop that works really good with games and professional programs, like lets say Photo-shop or a video editing program, I don't like small screens so I was looking for a 17" screen and a laptop that would last for several years.

I hear something about that they run out of IP addresses and that there is something call IP6 or something like that, and they were telling that if we buy a new PC we should look for one that has that. What do you know about that?

I hope you can help me to decided what to buy.

Thanks for your time.

Np Rojo.

The best CPUs out right now, especially for gaming are the Intel “Core i7” CPUs. They kick major butt. If they were not the best CPUs for gaming they would not be placed in the fastest “Alienware” laptops, which some people consider them to be the fastest gaming laptops in the world. (btw, do not buy Alienware, they are overpriced)

Your friend might be talking about ATI video cards being the best for graphics. ATI video cards have the best price/performance cards out right now. The company “AMD” bought the ATI graphics card company. So AMD owns ATI.

Dell, HP, Asus, Toshiba and Acer are all good laptop companies I would buy from.

Here is a very fast Gaming laptop from HP I customized for you. It will any 2011 and older game very smoothly at high settings without any problems. It will even play the most intense games that freeze and crash most laptops without any problems.
It will run WoW at the highest possible settings smoothly. Although I recommend playing the new game “Rift” if you are into MMOs. I bought that game last month and I have been addicted since. I would have responded to you yesterday but I was too busy playing Rift, lol.

Oh!!  OK ^^ then I will kick my friends ass Tongue.

With a student discount + the mega sale of HP that laptop will be $100 less.

I think I'm going to buy it. This laptop of mine is going to die, when I first got it the body of it burn up... I don't know how it have been working for 4 years. But I'm glad I have this laptop I learn a lot because of the problems lol.

I looked up the game, it looks fun Tongue but I'm going to try "Granado Espada" a friend told me is pretty fun and it looks like it too, the best part is that you can play for free but of course there are some zones that is for PTP people.

Thanks for everything ^^ I'm glad that I have found your pages like 1 year or more ago, it have been receiving a lot of help from you Thanks!

P.S: One day we should play something together, I wanna kill you someday ( in a game of course ) ^^

Do not mess with your network settings, especially IPv4. Without IPv4 running you will not have Internet access.

I play game only on my PC. I have a very fast PC that can max out most games so they look really great. One of my friends that has played Black Ops on a PS3 and an XBOX told me, “Wow! Black Ops on your computer looks so much better than the PS3 and XBOX”, hehe.

OK, in class they say something about it that's why I was like... scare hehehe but in the future, when everything goes to IPv6 is that something you have to change with some part of your pc or is that like an software update?

Call of Duty sound and graphics are horrible, we have to buy the HDMI cable so it looks better but to be honest I felt like it was a rip-off. Now I wanna see it on your PC lol.

The game I told you about "Granado Espada" it have been fun, the only problem is this laptop lol too slow for the game Tongue

IPv4 and IPv6 is not such a big deal. I have noticed Windows 7 computers are compatible with both. You will not have to adjust anything.

Here is what my PC looks like. Be sure to view the 1080P version of this video:

With your new laptop all games will look really good :-)

It does not matter how good you can view the game, as long as COD plays smoothly we will play at the same speeds Online
