Today I went to Canyourunit and my brand new desktop failed the minimum requirements for Sims 3. I spent all my money on this new desktop and the lady told me it would run Sims 3 fine..my laptop running on Vista needed serious repairs so I bought this computer and gave my laptop to my husband..-----------------
System Information
------------------
Time of this report: 10/8/2009, 09:16:15
       Machine name: EMACHINE-98E05C
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234)
           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: eMachines
       System Model: EL1300G
BIOS: )Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG
          Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor 2650e  ,  MMX,  3DNow, ~1.6GHz
             Memory: 894MB RAM
Page File: 750MB used, 1417MB available
        Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
     DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode
That's my system info, but if you need something I haven't listed let me know..I don't think I'll have the money to go out and fix the CPU speed and RAM issues any time soon if it's very expensive. Is there any chance Sims 3 will work for me, as well as the new expansion coming out in November, if I lower certain settings in the game? If there's no hope do you think that Sims 2 with all expansions and stuff packs will run well-if I have to I'll go back to Sims 2 until I can afford the upgrades.
Please help..I'd like to be able to play my game if at all possible!

Hi Danielle,

I am sorry to say that the lady you bought this PC from either lied to you or didn't know what she was talking about. To be able to play The Sims 3 you would have to replace all major computer parts and would end up paying a few hundred dollars at the very least.

Are you able to return this computer? I highly recommend that you do, especially since the information the lady gave to you is false. An analogy would be if you were looking to buy a car that that had a top speed of at least 180 MPH and the salesperson sold you a car that has a max top speed of 90 MPH, promising you that it goes 180 MPH.
