I have installed The Sims 3 onto my computer, but when I go to enter the game, a disclaimer comes up and says "Unable to start game. Device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card does not appear to support atleast Shader Model 2. Please upgrade your card."  I have a Compaq Presario SR1303WM, running on Windows 2000/XP. Is there a way to upgrade a video card to have the required Shared Model 2? Or do I need to purchase one? I'm at a complete and total loss lol  Please help, with any information you may have.

Hello, welcome to the site.  Smiley

I looked up your computer. I believe this is your model in the picture? http://bit.ly/40vbLH

You will be able to upgrade it to play The Sims 3. The bad thing about this is that you will have to upgrade 3 components. Besides your video card, the CPU and RAM do not meet the bare minimum requirements. Upgrading all 3 of them to make your PC 100% Sims 3 compatible will cost $350-$550. And you might have to play it at the lowest graphics settings to get it running smoothly.

I highly recommend not putting that much money into your computer. For under $550 you can buy a new computer that will be 100% Sims 3 compatible. I checked the HP website just now and found you a PC for $540. It does not include a monitor or speakers, just use the same monitor and speakers you have now, they will be 100% compatible.
