Sound aint working.

Ok joey, i cleaned a computer i rebooted and etc. after that i tryed to do windows update but after that we tryed to watch a video on facebook but that when we found out that the sound was not working anymore. And when we reboot the machine there is a pop up opening asking us to install a new hardware when we click install hardware because we figured out it was the sound it said we need a cd. Can you tell me how i can get the sound back? Or system restore is the smartest solution?

I need the exact model # of your computer and also what company makes it (HP, emachine, etc.)?

Are you using XP or Vista?
