my processor intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 420 @1.60GHz 1.60GHz

how would i go about upgrading it?

are you using a pc, laptop or notebook?
if you are using a PC,yes you can upgade your processor but 'I' would purchase the processor and thermal paste(*important*) first, before you remove the original processor.
without themal paste you will over heat and break your PC.

I believe that CPU fits onto a motherboard with a "Socket 775". I recommend upgrading to an Intel "Core2Duo" that fits onto a socket 775.

There are some videos on YouTube that will teach you how to physically perform the task.
