Can I upgrade computer to play Sims 3?

My daughter just bought the Sims 3 game and computer will not play it due to video card. She does have 3 other Sims games on the computer. Computer is about 5 yrs old, Windows xp, service pack 2, AMD Sempron Processor 3100+, 1.18 gb ram, 1.80 ghz, 100 gb ata hard drive, S3 Unichrome 3d-video card, also says there is an AGP slot available. I do not know much about the workings of a computer. Any help is appreciated!

The 1 GB of RAM passes specs. The CPU and graphics card are not compatible.

It's good that you have an open AGP slot, a new one can be easily put in that is compatible with The Sims 3.

Tell me exactly what is says under, Hardware >> Motherboard. Manufacturer, Model, Version, North Bridge, South Bridge and Cpu Socket.
