Hi, I just got Alice: Madness Returns after 11 years of waiting for a sequel only to discover choppy video in the game. I double checked to make sure my settings met the requirsments but I think there's an issue with my graphics card. It says the required is NVIDIA GeForce 7600 256MB PCIe or ATI Radeon X1650 256MB PCIe or greater. I checked mine and under display adapters it says: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.

I am VERY computer illiterate, I won't pretend I have a clue what any of this means..but is this possible the cause of the poor video and what do I need to do to upgrade to something better, or even can I? I can provide additional info about my machine as needed.

Hello,

You are correct for thinking that the graphics card on your laptop may be the problem. The graphics card that is integrated on the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset is not meant for intense gaming like the new Alice: Madness Returns. It is just for basic stuff like Internet, email, watching videos, Facebook games and older games that aren’t too graphically intense.

The GeForce 7600 and the Radeon X1650 graphics cards but they are definitely faster than the one on the 4 Express Chipset. It is like comparing two cars with a top speed of 60 MPH with a car that has a top speed of 40 MPH.

There is something you can do to speed up the game a little...
Step 1: Install the free version of “Game Booster”
http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Step 2: Run Game Booster

Step 3: Open up the Alice game but DO NOT play it yet. Go into the settings, specifically the Graphics Settings

Step 4: Set the Resolution to the lowest it will allow you to set it to. Then adjust all of the graphics settings to the lowest possible. If it gives you an option to turn OFF any graphics setting, turn it OFF

Step 5: Play Alice
