I have an Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00 GHz, 3 GB RAM. My graphics card is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. This computer used to use Vista but was having freezing issues. I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64-bit.

Everything is now running wonderfully except Second Life. I have tried both the official viewer as well as numerous third party viewers.

When I try to open the program, it acts as if it will load. The "frame" for the window appears, but then nothing ever happens. I see the desktop through the frame. If I move the frame it is as if the seen part has become a photo. I cannot close the frame. I can only shrink it--to close it I must log off.

Prior to the Windows 7 upgrade, I was able to run Second Life. Why am I now not able to?

Hi  Smiley

Try the following…
1st, update to the latest graphics drivers for your Intel 965 at the following page:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
Have the site detect the exact graphic drivers you need and download and install what it tells you to.

2, Restart your PC after the new graphics drivers are installed

3, Download and Install the free “Game Booster” Windows App. This will help free up system resources and direct all of your computer power to running Second Life.
http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

4, Run game booster and then run the Second Life viewer from their site. This is the one I am talking about http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/

NOTE: If you are able to adjust the Second Life graphics settings before you run Second Life please do so. Then adjust the resolution to “1024x768” and set the other graphic settings to low.
