Is it possible to send a DVD movie by email attachment or link? I`m on Outlook 2007 but the ISP has a maximum of 10mb and the movie of course is much larger. Is it possible to reduce the mb of the movie? Smiley

hi terrace.
unfortunately email accounts only have around 20mb max for sending attachments.
some share sites will let you upload around 200mb without a paid account.
personally id install a bit torrent and download the movie from piratebay.

the smallest file for a move i have come accross is a .mkv file.but the size would still be over the 200mb size.

Just a few days ago I stumbled on a new site that will do your bidding.

http://justbeamit.com

This is not a normal file upload site. In fact it does not upload your file to it's website. What it does is create a link for any file on your computer and gives you a link. You give that link to anyone you want. Your friend that received the link downloads your file directly from your computer.
The limit of the file transfer is around 2 GB.

Sorry for the awful explanation but this site is the first of it's kind. I barely know how it works, hehe.

Hi Joey, In regard to email size, i found "Handbrake" very good and will reduce the size of a file to the max of my provider which is 10MB. Works good. I`ll have a look at justbeamit. Grin

Hi again Joey, have you used Just Beamit, i`m having difficulty understanding it. What do i do when i see "waiting for recipient"?"Once your recipient starts downloading the file, Do NOT close the page at any point until the transfer is complete, as this will stop the transfer. JustBeamIt relies on you keeping your window open in order to transfer the file." Smiley

Hi Terrace,

1st you choose the file, then it will give you a link in a few seconds.
Give that link to whoever you want.
You must leave the browser window open. They will be grabbing the file directly from your computer. So if you close the browser the connection will get killed.

(I just tested it out right now. I sent an MP3 file to my friend.)

When you get the link, email it or instant message it to whoever you want receiving your file transfer.

Remember to leave the page open until the person on the other end tells you it is 100% complete on their PC. It may say 100% on yours but it may not be 100% for them. So just wait until they tell you it is 100% downloaded.

I also tried sending the link (to myself and my hotmail account) through Outlook and also right click>send link and when opening the received link it only shows the page where the link was sent. What do you mean instant message? Also, it seems from what you say, the recipient has to be online at the same time, is that correct?

Yes, the other person needs to be online when you are online. You can also just leave your computer turned on with the page still up if you would like.

You can do this to test it out on your own computer...
1) Use Firefox again to pick a file to send just like you did
2) Do not close that page, leave it open
3) Open up Internet Explorer or preferably Google Chrome and copy the link it gave you into the browser

See what happens  Smiley

I was going to create a screen capture right now but the site is either down or is blocked at my work.
