Firefox crippled printing ability unresolvable??

 I'm on 64/32-bit Windows Vista SP-2, and have a problem printing any web page from Firefox. The only solution suggested to me has not worked. Using the instructions from the Mozillazine forum,

 I've applied this method a number of times in the past 2 months, including the aspect mentioned in #3 to reset ALL the print.print preferences, which, takes a little while as they can only be reset 1 at a time. Every time I close down Firefox and/ or my PC and later open the browser again, ALL the resetting I did is gone, and the preferences have all reverted back to UserSet, after my having reset them all into Default. Not only that, but the last two times I've tried this, in contrast to previous attempts, NONE of Canon printer preferences which showed there before are
present, and the most important configuration described in the repair instructions, "print.print_printer" is also missing.
 Canon has confirmed twice that I have the most current driver I need for my printer, a common and simple multi-function machine for the home.
  It's a hassle to open up I-Explorer and go to the page I want, every time I need to print from the Web. Can anyone here help me resolve this?  Many thanks for reading. -- Starman52
