Hello!  I'm putting together some great ideas for a website -- Now I need to get to it and make the darn thing.  Any suggestion on applications that can help me?  @genxyn hinted at Drupal CMS.  Which I understand to be open source, but have no idea on how to open a .tar file.  Help?  Can I run Drupal on a Mac?  Will I need to understand programming languages to use Drupal?

Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Here is a 5-part Tutorial series that will show you how to create a website for free.
http://www.cleartechinfo.com/How-To-Create-Website-Free

The series shows you how to build a website from scratch for free using the site WordPress.com.

Once you learn everything in the tutorial series and you want something a little bit more complex and customizable you can graduate to a self-hosted WordPress.org site. It is harder to setup and maintain but once you get the hang of it everything will be simple. If you decide to go in this direction you will have to pay for 2 things, web hosting ($7-8/month with a GOOD company) and your own website domain name (roughly $11/year to maintain the ownership of your website name).

This is a site I created using WordPress.org. http://www.genxyz.org/
I rented my own web space from a hosting company, bought my own domain name, downloaded and configured the free WordPress.org website script. Out of everything I used or at least attempted to use it is by far the easiest to setup and maintain.

After you checkout the tutorial series if you want your own setup like http://www.genxyz.org/ I can guide you in the right direction on hosting, domain name purchasing and setup.
