My computer switches to work offline intermittently even without me requesting it. Sometimes it happens even though the "work offline" under "file" is not ticked. When that happens i have to completely start again what i was doing. I`m on Windows XP-cable wi fi wireless network-Netgear modem and adapters.(see attachments) Any ideas?   Grin

3 questions...

Did you recently switch operating systems on your computer, like XP to Vista, XP to Win 7, Vista to 7 or any similar switch?

Did you recently update the firmware on your router or drivers on your USB network card?

Did you recently change routers or USB net cards?

Thank You. No to all 3 questions.  Just now i checked the signal strength on the little tv screen in the taskbar and the speed was 24Mbps-then 11Mbps-later 36Mbps-then 54Mbps. Signal strength usually shows good/very good and occassionally excellent. When it goes offline the tick is not always against "work offline" under file.   Grin

When you say it changes to "Work Offline", you mean that the web browser changes to work offline mode, correct? If so what browser do you usually use and have you tried updating it lately?

I get a message box saying it is in " work offline"(Firefox browser doesn`t open) and sometimes "work offline" is ticked in drop down file and sometimes not when this happens and i haven`t even elected to work offline. I`m using Firefox 3.5.7. When i get the message box again i`ll do a screen print of it for you.   Smiley

I unticked the box in my screenshot. I wonder if the box ticked could be causing the "work offline"?  Smiley

It seems a big possibility that power management could be the culprit. As you know, in Nvidia nforce  i unticked the box in "allow computer to turn off this device to save power". In the Netgear WG11V2 there`s no power management tab. Through google i found usb root hub power management info and unticked the box "allow computer to turn off" etc.,   Smiley
