I set the power management to at a number of minutes, and after the computer has been asleep there`s no internet connection. I restart the computer and then the internet connection is back on. Is there something that`s not set? It`s a Windows 7 computer Smiley

hi terrace,i have the exact same problem (along with many others),
i beleive we have the exact same internet service provider.
this happens several times a day to myself and find that if i unplug the internet cable and plug it back in,or dissconnect wireless and reconnect it again.
this solves that particular problem (well for myself anyhow).
i have also tried the restart pc method and that works aswell. the disconnect and rconnect method is a quicker way for me.
i actually have a ISP Tech comming over tomorrow that handles our exchange/phone tower to make an in-house call to test my lines, and this is one of the questions ill be asking him.

This happened on the Windows 7 computer after i had the Netgear usb adapters substituted by Wireless card because of constant disconnections. I`d be interested to know what your tech says. Is it a Bigpond tech? Grin

That`s good. I had about a dozen so called techs out when i was having disconnection problems and they didn`t fix it. It is a company contracted to Bigpond/Telstra. After a long time i made a complaint to Telstra and out came a bloke by the name of Paul (an actual Telstra technician) who tested everything  and told me to disconnect the wireless settings/Netgear usb adapters and run for 7 days on a special 30 feet ethernet cable he had made up to reach from the other end of the house to my computer. No disconnections during the 7 day period and therefore he recommended Wireless card and get rid of the Netgear usb adapters as he said he didn`t like them and they were the problem. It`s a long time since the Wireles card was installed and i`ve had no disconnections since. The other power management thing is different on my son`s Windows 7 computer. Grin

i feel i need to point out that the telstra techs job was to come out and test my lines.
which he did do.
and my problems are not a result of the tech that made the house call.
