hi Kaz
did you install the windows7 update/nvidia driver. or did you install the official nvidia driver from there site?
you say its Not located in the device manager,so you cant uninstall it there?
i use a revouninstaller to uninstall my software and on the 'nvidia geforce 7600 gt series' it shows a nvidia driver manager, aswell as a nvidia driver.but on my 'nvidia gefroce fx5500' its not shown in revouninstaller and would need to use the device manager for the uninstall.
i would also run a free scan program called SIW(system information windows) this will detect the drivers and your card for you.this way you will know if the driver was installed successfully.
then knowing there is no 'uninstall' method in device manager,uninstall/install programs and revo.i would suggest doing a system restore, to the time before you updated the driver.from there it should be back in your device manager and you can uninstall it if neccissary and download the latest drtiver from the nvidia official site.
if you installed the windows7 updates/nvidia driver, you can always roll back that update as another option.
this is how i uninstalled my geforce7600 and installed a nvidia fx 5500series.
create system restore point/drop resolution to bare minumum/uninstall NVidia GeFORCE 7600/restart PC/run Ccleaner and clean registry(14 dead files)/create new restore point/ download and install the 'Vista drivers'from NVidia website 'FX5 series'/scan the download then dissable antivirus/run the set up(instalation successful)/restart PC
*in your case you will download and install the 'Nvidia geforce GT 240m CUDA 1GB graphics card for windows 7 64bit instead of mine.also during my graphics card probs i searched many forums and some people suggest using 'older' and sometimes 'vista' drivers instead. i would download the vista driver just as a 2nd option if you need it.
aslong as your system restore was successfull you may not need to update the driver. unless your updating it for gaming?
and if you are, here is some help and advice from the NVIDIA forum about that card
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=157609these free versions are fine
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.htmlhttp://gtopala.com/ (SIW,goto download tab and scroll down to the freeware version)
Official NVIDIA site.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us (select the card, series and operating system.then download,scan,dissable/exit antivirus and install the driver.then restart your computer)
hope this helps
