i am really pleased to have come across your page i a hoping you could help me with a technical issue i have been experiencing for months. i have windows vista home premium, i am trying to jailbreak my phone which requires me to download a few stuff off the internet including 'redsnow' after downloading a box appears at the bottom giving you the option to 'open' it, everytime i click on that, i tunes opens up and there is no sign of redsnow, even when i try to open it manually by going back to the downloads list it opens up with i tunes which is not the programe its suposse to open with. when i right click on it it gives me a choice which programe to open it with however the choice is only internet explorer and firefox which isnt the right programs, when i go into default programe it gives me more options but i dont know which programe i need to open this with, plz help. thanks

Hello. If you are trying to use redsnow to jaibreak for iOS 5.0.1 I would advise against it for the moment. Many people are having problems with this jailbreak. Here is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWEBEI0071c (External Embedding Disabled)

thank you for your reply, i am actually trying to jailbreak i phone 4.3.5, its not the jailbreaking i have an issue with, the trouble a having on my laptop is everytime i download things from the internet it downlaoads but thenwhen i try to open it it only opens up i tunes, it doesnt open the actual programme i have downloaded, it always opens up with i tunes, i would very much appreciate any help or advise you can offer me, thanks!!

Okay, I see 

- After you download a file, go to the exact location/folder on your computer that it is located in (do not access it through iTunes).

- RIGHT-click the file and select "Open with" > "Choose default program"

- Click the "Browse" button if the program you want to open your file is not listed

- Search your PC for the program you want to open up your specific file
Windows programs are usually listed under "C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86)"
