having trouble with my laptop

my laptop is been messing up for the last month first it had abunch of register errors . i fixed that then somethin messed up i dont know what is wrong with it but almost all of the shortcuts dont work an when i click on the ones that dont work it has a error msg that says "this file doees not have a program associated with it for performing this action.Create an association in the set association control panel.also doing simple things like transfering files from the computers memory to programs like itunes and limewire. please help!
