Hi Cendy,

A computer running slow and also making noise sounds like 2 independent problems.

When your computer is making noise it can be either a fan inside or the PC hard drive. I highly recommend backing up any important files/data you don't want to lose. Back it up asap on a USB drive or larger external hard drive. If the noise is coming from your hard drive it could die soon. When your hard drive dies the only way you can get back information from your computer is to pay someone $400 to $2,000 to recover your data (if it can be recovered at all).

As for the computer running slow, that is a common problem. I maintain over 300 computers at work. I perform the following steps to optimize and speed up computers at work and home. Perform them in the exact order listed.

Step 1. Install and run the free program "CCleaner". Run the "cleaner" and "registry" options. I have created a CCleaner tutorial that will take you step-by-step through the full process.

Step 2. Use the MSConfig Windows utility to prevent programs from starting up automatically which significantly slows down your computer start-up time. Below is a tutorial that will simplify the process.

Step 3. Use the free defragmenter MyDefrag to speed up your PC. I created a tutorial for it.
