If you really want to learn how to hack you need to learn how to use Linux really good. Learn how to navigate through Linux just by typing in commands in the prompt. This will not be an easy thing you can learn in a week. It might take months. Then after that you can search Google for hacking using Linux.

I said choose a PC which is the HP Envy over the Mac because Linux installs easily on PCs.

To go more into detail, i would specifically go for Backtrack Linux because it is designed for hacking. It has all the commands built in as well as a couple of programs (such as Wireshark).
