I am having a troubling time trying to get 7zip to work for me.  I checked my OS, and I run on Windows Vista 64 bit and download the correct file of 7zip.  Once installed, it wouldn't show up when I right clicked a .7 or .rar file.  Can anyone help me?  I need this to work because I was send a file from a friend and I need to open this file fast for a project.

Here is the link to the latest 7-zip program that is designed for Vista 64-bit. Before you install it you must uninstall the version you currently have.

OK,
I hope that I am asking this in the proper place. I've looked this forum over and come to the conclusion that this must be it.
I downloaded the free 7-Zip program to use mostly for rar file videos. At first it worked like a charm....but then soon enough, when I tried to play more clips, the screen would turn green and begin to flash off and on, giving only brief glimpses of the film beneath this green screen.
Well I thought at first that it must be some sort of scramble technology but soon after, after a few more tries...I am now thinking that the files are too large.

Any ideas about what is happening here?
Does 7-Zip have limitations on the file sizes?
As best I can remember, these files are about 200MB
As I said before it worked perfectly on one 200MB just prior to this green screen problem.

Oh before I forget, it does a good job on the smaller files. They seem to play ok.
It's the larger files that seem to be the problem. Or so it seems to me.

Any help with this will be most appreciated.
Thank you...!  : )

Oh before I totally forget. I have a 32 bit program (Vista) and downloaded the 32 bit 7-Zip program.
I am using the Realplayer program to view the extracted files. And all of my other video files play fine except for the extracted "larger" rar files.
Once again the smaller rar files play fine....just before I ran into the larger files.

I have used 7-zip to compress and decompress files that were over 1GB in size so your files should be no problem. Bigger files will just take longer to compress or decompress.

So what you are saying is that after you use 7-zip to open up a rar file it does not play correctly? If that is the case it does not have anything to do with 7-zip.

Do you know what file format those videos are in? Maybe your computer does not recognize the video file format? If that is the case then you just need to download a couple of items to your computer and you will be able to play almost anything on your computer. Here is a tutorial on How-To play any video on your PC

Hi Joey,
And thanks so much. Wow you are quick!

Just checked all of your replies too and enjoyed the newest instructional video you left for me in one of the replies. Thanks

Now I will be able to get you that info you asked. And hopefull the info needed on this thread too.
I am rather new at all of this (as you may can tell) and am quite frankly, a little techno challenged.
I am so glad to have found your site. And I kid you not!
Your instructional videos make things so easy to understand and, well I can do some things now.

I will be back to answer your other replies (asap) hopefully sometime today. (fingers crossed)
Real quick...if I understand what you mean by format...it is mostly all avi.

Thanks again,
Be back asap
