I am currently running FF 7.01 (for compatability w/ add-ons)

I run multiple profiles simultaneously (6 total), each w/ seperate cache locations. utilized via the about:config console and entering the directory path for browser.cache.disk.parent_directory.

Also via the FF about:config console, i have turned prefetch off.

I have dual hard drives, thus the directory above was on the faster of the two in it's own partition w/ the windows cache.  This did not alleviate the problem.  So i installed memory fox and set the disk cache to 0 (i have 4 GB of ram)

Consistently, the memory usage per profile maintains itself around 150 MB per profile, but after long periods, the browser starts to lag severely.

I have installed CCleaner, Registry Mechanic, Tune Up Utilites and RegCure.  Nothing seems to be helping.

In addition, i installed the add-on Adblock Plus and created some custom filters to get rid of all the extra garbage on the page, still no go.

Should i be using disk cache, or does it matter?
Clearing browser history seldom has any affect (not that it ever used that much anyways)

Anyways, any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm running windows XP Pro, have set it for performance via system properties/advanced.

Hello. Yes use diskcache. Also update to the latest Firefox. Firefox is updating its browser very fast now. I thought I had the latest update 8.1 but I just checked right now and they have a 9.1 update.

I am not sure why you need so many individual profiles open at once. Can you just use 2 or 3 and open multiple tabs in each? Each Firefox profile will end up increase its memory with each site you view on it. The worst sites are the ones with videos, music and flash.
