id like to start this reply by saying, the tearm 'hacking' is overly used and totaly misunderstood by society and main stream media. for the poorly used display of computer and gadget science with criminal intent has ruined its name. when a person states to be HACKED they actualy mean they/there passwords/accounts/computers etc...have been CRACKED. yes it is done by hacking, but most hackers are not malicious in anyway, infact few actualy are. hacking tools are easy to get if you know were to search and how use them, there intentions are usualy for penetration testing/security,recovery etc..i was foolish and nieve about a year ago and threw the term 'hacking' around quite a bit, without actualy being aware of what it meant. its just a person that can make stuff do stuff that its not intended to do.they can just see it from a different perspective.but i guess its up to the individual to maintain morals and ethics in regards to there knowladge and actions.wether your a hacker or a cracker, the intentions are usualy just for information or perhaps a challenge. im more into operating systems, recovery, format, security, testing programs and tools, tweeking settings but anyway... heres a couple of really good sites to google hak5 room 362 Iron Geek PCwizkid also some tools that you will find useful as joey said 'Hirens boot CD'. a 4 or 8 GB USB stick to put any portable programs/tools and files on. or even a bootable OS,like 'Back Track'. this can also be run in a windows virtual environment. a linux live CD 'ubuntu' or 'mint', etc... (you will find these types of opeating systems will give you much more manipulation/control in regards to what its capabilitys are, in comparison to a windows platform. a good set up would be something like, 2 computers. xp and linux mint as a dual boot.windows 7 on the other. a usb stick for antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, cleaning, defrag, optimizing tools.portable apps and anything else you may need. a USB stick that can run its own start menu,programs,games,etc...installed on it. a good one is called portableapps.com and can run on a windows platform and is portable so you can download on...say,a library or school computer. as long as theres a functionaning USB port available. backtrack on a USB. ether bootable(live/virtual) or installed as an operating system on your hard drive. now you can run tests on yourself having a selection of operating systems to penetrate and play with the different tools in a safe and stable environment. Linux has a whole bunch of cool tools, you just need to look through the thousands of applications in the software manager to install the ones you want. on your best computer install a bit torrent, add pirate bay into it.now you can search for videos on security, hacking, building and modifying Tutorials or documentarys.or any hobbie you wish to become an enthusiast in.aswell as movies, music, programs and applications (free). youtube also has some good videos on the stuff. just bare in mind that this isnt the type of thing you can learn over night.infact it can take years, and development depends on motivation and enthusiasm.
