Today when i downloaded my firefox 3.5 i got surprised when my firewall tell me helper.exe is trying to load in my head i was like what the hell can it be!I did some research that helper.exe is a process for the uninstallation of firefox. If you dont have firefox installed that means helper.exe is some kind of worm! I Recommend scanning your computer with Malwarebytes Anti Malware to make sure that is it not a virus.

If you have a virus or anything that you wish to remove and you didn't find anyway, see my posts in the section security or if it does not help Add me on msn raphael_cyr_6934@hotmail.com

Yes. It could be nothing to worry about or it could be a threat. I found this link about it at ThreatExpert.com

Hello,

Here is some behavior to watch out for:

HELPER.EXE has been seen to perform the following behavior:

This process creates other processes on disk
This Process Deletes Other Processes From Disk
The Process is packed and/or encrypted using a software packing process
Writes to another Process's Virtual Memory (Process Hijacking)
Can communicate with other computer systems using HTTP protocols
Executes a Process
Creates a new Background Service on the machine
Looks at the contents of the autoexec.bat file
Reads email address and phone book details
Visits web sites on your PC without you knowing
Injects code into other processes
This Process is a file infector which modifies program files to include a copy of the infection
The Process is polymorphic and can change its structure
Can Send email using SMTP protocols
This Process sends MIME Email
Creates a hidden window which can be used to run other programs without your knowledge
This Process Contains User Mode Rootkit Functionality and can hide itself from the running process list
Adds a Registry Key (RUN) to auto start Programs on system start up
HELPER.EXE has been the subject of the following behavior:

Executed as a Process
Created as a process on disk
Has code inserted into its Virtual Memory space by other programs
Deleted as a process from disk
Created as a new Background Service on the machine
Added as a Registry Key (DXCOM) to auto start Programs on system start up
Copied to multiple locations on the system
Registered as a Dynamic Link Library File
Executed by Internet Explorer
Executed from Temporary Folders
Terminated as a Process

I would consider this a threat.

helper.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 49,664 bytes (66% of all occurrence), 52,224 bytes.
Program has no file description. The program is not visible. File helper.exe is located in the Windows folder, but it is not a Windows core file. File helper.exe is not a Windows system file. Therefore the technical security rating is 72% dangerous.
