Hi
I have bought a medical reference book installation CD which came in exe format and dmg format. I am able to install it on my mac and pc; was able to open it, search it, etc.
How can I extract the TEXT files from this exe or dmg setup files, so that I can convert the text file into epub format to read on my iPhone?

In program files, the installed formats are:   _1ui.cfs     data.qch    data.qhc  and many .dll files.

Please advice on this and I will be grateful to you. This book is very important for my exam.

**Some one uploaded the same book in pdb format, but it was 2008 version. I have the CD in 2010 version. I am not able to contact the person who uploaded the old version.

Thank you very much

Hi Joey

I have followed the tutorial and extracted the files from the exe. There is no text file\format in that. But when I install the exe, it is installing the reference book. So my question is How to get that text file?

Please advice.

Thanks kcl

Would you mind sharing the file with me? Upload it to a site like http://www.mediafire.com/ and link it here. I can mess with it to see what I could find within the EXE file.

Hi Joey

Here is the file link: It has no password

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ETI5EJT6

Thank you sparing your time to play with it. It will be good if we get the text in chm or pdb or at least pdf formats.

So nice of you. Thank you once again.

I downloaded the file and tried to manually extract it like in my tutorial. I could not find the specified files you are looking for. I am guessing that this is a highly customized EXE file that only spits out those files when you install the EXE file.

I downloaded and opened up the PC version. There were also 2 extra EXE files in there that I opened up.

I am sorry to say that it is the same. I could not find any of the files you were looking for in there. It's the same as the other version as far as the way it stores it's files. You can probably only get those files if you install it.
