PDF files are not viruses. They are Adobe Acrobat Reader format. These files are usually documents, used a lot by some businesses.

I wonder why you ask?

Could you have opened a big pdf file that made your computer run slooooww?

If you did, its maybe because you have low memory, this means that your computer had 32mb of available ram and you opened up a bigger file than that, so your computer used the hard drive space (you could have heard that thing going) as ram.

If this is the case your computer will run normally at restart.

But it you still need more memory so that this doesn't happen again

Actually no a .PDF file is simply a image file like.jpg or.gif only difference is when you save the image you dont have to merge the layers so you can edit the layers.

I think PDF files can not hold any virus. It does not use html or java codes. But it may have some link to some sites.

I coded in Visual Basic code to open the PDF file based on hyperlink address in a field with FollowHyperlink method. Some files may contain viruses or damage. It is important to be sure that this file is from a trusted source.
