Unable to rip CD Audio to MP3.... why now?

I've been ripping for years. Suddenly my Creative Audigy & all other rip software doesn't work! What was once familair and easy is now impossible. XP OS. Audigy ZX. Why? How can I rip?

I attempted to rip a CD using Windows Media Player after I read this post. For some reason it also does not work on my computer. I just used it to rip about 20 CDs last month, very odd. The only thing I can think of is an alternative ripping utility.

Here is a free software alternative that I tested and is working as of this post...

Download LAME MP3 Encoder: http://jthz.com/~lame/

- Download both and install AudioGrabber
- Unzip the full LAME MP3 file contents into the audiograbber directory

I will create a quick video showing some basic settings of Audio Grabber later.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: AudioGrabber works with Windows XP and Vista. I even tested it out with Vista 64-bit it it works fine.

I wonder if I RE-installed my original ripping software that came with my Creative MuVo MP3 player if it would then regain being the ripper of choice?

Yes. You can try reinstalling the software. Some other program might have messed with it in some way. Reinstalling it might erase the issue.

I wonder if there are others that got the same problem at the same time... sort of odd to suddenly stop working; to not be able to do the routine.

Could there have been some "clock" set to disable ripping on a general basis? Probably not but this is weird to me. Keep ear out for similar problems.

I may try reinstalling the ripping software that came with my MP3 device in an effort to 'jump start' the problem. And if that cures the problem... would that mean corrupted files or disassociation of the ripping command?

I'll let you know.

What ever it was PREVENTED me from doing what I had been doing for years. The reinstall seems to have cured the prob. Very odd though.

Anyone else with similar probs?

Either one of the last few Windows updates or some other audio application messed with the Creative program.

After getting the Creative Media Source ripping program that came with my Audigy2 ZS 'updated' I lost decent sound! EVERYTHING sounds garbled & muted. Windows Media Player sounds fine but something is messing up the bundled Media Source sounds horrible. 2/10/09

I've decided that the problem is related to the Creative Media Source software that I've used for 10 years with NO PROBLEM. Some "update" buggered up a good thing. I wonder if they can reslove the issue.

In the mean time I'll use the stuff built in to XP... I'm sick of conflicts. Oh, well.

Would like to hear if someone knows of a "cure". Thanxz.
