FastStone Image Viewer is a cool, little image utility. As its name suggests it is an image viewer (an excellent one I might add) with a few photo editing features. It is “freeware” so that means it is 100% free and will not lock you out in the future, asking you to pay any money (but you can make a donation to the company if you choose to do so).

The basic image viewer that is built into Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP is very basic with limited options. It also only reads a few image formats. In contrast FastStone is an advanced image viewer with a few built-in photo editing options like cropping, resizing and red-eye removal. It can also read almost any image format on the Internet, including Adobe Photoshop. It can also change the format of an image to another one (ex: change my photos in .tiff format to .jpg format).
