Tera Rising was officially released in the United States on May 1st, 2012. This was the first MMO I played that offered action combat aiming as opposed to the usually Tab target + aiming then hit your macro. Since I am also a fan of FPS games like Crysis and Call of Duty, I really loved this new style of combat aiming in MMOs.

[adblockingdetector id=”2″]If Tera Rising sparks an interest but you don’t want to waste any money testing it out there is good news. Tera Rising went “free-to-play” in 2013. You just go on the tera.enmasse.com website and download the game. But before you download the game I highly recommend checking to see if your PC can run it. The Tera PC system requirements are listed below.

If you do not know what your Windows PC specs are that is not a problem. I created a tutorial that will show you how to quickly find your processor, memory and graphics cards specs.

If you have any QUESTIONS or COMMENTS about installing Tera Rising or are not sure if your computer is compatible, feel free to ASK FOR HELP BELOW!

      Hi Simdley,

Thank you for posting your PC specs. Try the following to help you speed up Tera on your Asus laptop…
1 – Download/Install the latest nVidia GeForce 610M drivers for your setup. Nvidia just released new drivers last week.
Here is a link to the new drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/102381/en-us

2 – Make sure your laptop AC power adapter is always plugged in before and during any type of game playing. If it is running on battery power the system will automatically slow down to save battery life. Slowing down the system means LOTS of lag in your games.

3 – Download/Install the free Razor Cortex. Razor will just ask you to give them an email address for the free software.
      http://www.razerzone.com/cortex/boost
—– Run Razor Cortex. Select the BOOST option. Then enter Boost Mode.
      —– Run Tera

4 – While in Tera. Go into the graphic settings. Select the medium graphic settings option for everything. Save settings.

5 – Play Tera. Test out dungeons, battleground and the major cities that were giving you trouble.

6 – If you still get a lot of lag you must move down your graphic settings to the lowest. That will speed things up.

Please Note: The bottleneck on your laptop is the GeForce 610M graphics card. It is good for some games, but all the graphic processing going on in the Tera major cities and intense dungeons might be too much for it.

      Hello,

Yes. Your PC specs can run Tera.

You may get some lag, so I recommend doing the following free things to make Tera run smoother…
      1. Download the latest AMD Radeon R5 220 graphic drivers from the following site: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
      — After the drivers are fully installed, Restart your PC. This is important so they can take full effect.

      2. Download / Install “Razor Cortex”. Get it here: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex
      — When you are ready to play Tera, first open up Cortex then perform a “Boost”. Last run Tera.

      3. Set the Tera in-game graphic settings to “Preset 3”. Any higher and you will get lag during max level dungeons and battlegrounds. You might also freeze while inside highly populated cities like Velika and Highwatch.

I have a Question -> I have a decent PC and can play on max settings but i have a strange problem after playing for a short time and i get drooped from the game and i have checked my stats on the PC but nothing out of the ordinary CPU use is 80~95% and Ram:80~90% but what i see the most is that my PC is thinking non stop. Is my PC too old for this game cuz i can play other games whit greater requirements than TERA.
    My PC:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+
    RAM: 2 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4600
Hard Drive is on 5+ years
From what can be the problem, i Play on EU server.

After you performed all the fixes I suggested and if you login to Tera and still get the crashing issues, it is not your computer or Internet connection. There is a recent game crashing issue that some of us are having. This is due to Tera. They need to fix it. Here is a forum post about it: http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/0929-PostMaintenance-Login-Issues-and-Black-Friday-Sale

      Hello,

Thanks for posting your PC specs. You are partially right when you said your PC is too old. The PC specs are too old to play Tera on max settings without any problems. That PC will be able to play Tera great, without any crashes on low to medium graphic settings.

There are 3 things you can do to make Tera run a little better. Do all 3…
#1 – Download / Install the latest ATI Radeon HD 4600 graphics drivers from here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

#2 – After the new drivers are installed, restart your PC

#3 – Open up Tera. Enter your login details and just login to the launcher, but do not click the Play button. Click the “Tools” link. Then click the “Click Here to Begin Repair ” button to begin the repair.

#4 – After the Tera Repair is complete, fully close out the Tera launcher and anything associated with Tera

#5 – Download / Install Razor Cortex here: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex It is free software but Razor asks you to register on their site.

#6 – Open up Razor Cortex, click on the “BOOST” link at the top. Then click the huge, green “BOOST NOW” button.

#7 – Run Tera. Set the graphic settings to Medium. Play Tera

It’s either not done right or just not working, also i forgot to mention that the game can be played whit no problems in the beginning area for both reapers and normal champions, don’t know why.
        I have a 50 level Elin. Back then i didn’t have a problem.

If you tried steps 1-7 and get the same result, it is probably an overheating issue since your PC is working too hard while playing this game, which causes excessive heat.

Another thing. Even though the official Tera site still lists the same CPU, RAM and Graphics card requirements it did when it came out in 2012, the computer power needed to run Tera smoothly has been raised. A major update was during the free expansion pack they released “Fate of Arun”. They also just had a major update (not sure if it was as huge to be considered an expansion) during this month with the Brawler update. Tera does look better now compared to what it used to look like when I first started playing it a few years ago. Improved graphics=higher system requirements

I played Tera on my laptop (Intel Core i7 U, 8 GB RAM and Intel HD 5000 graphics) and I had to play on the absolute lowest graphic settings at 720P resolution (my monitors does 1440P) so I would not lag. The exact Tera graphic settings I use when I play on my laptop is “Preset 0”. If I try to play with higher graphic settings the game crashes if I try to do something like a dungeon or battleground. In contrast, my really fast desktop (Intel Core i7 3.2 GHz, 16 GB RAM, GTX 980 Ti) can play Tera at max graphic settings without crashing.

So your PC setup would have worked great 2-3 years ago on Tera, but now, after the free expansion packs were released the game probably needs to be played on “Preset 0” graphic settings in order to eliminate crashes.

      Hello,

Thanks for posting your computer specs.
I see the part that is holding your PC back is the Intel HD graphics card.

Here are a few things you can do to speed the game up a bit. Do all of them in the order I list…
1 – Update to the latest Intel HD graphic drivers. Do this for free at: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
—– After the Intel HD graphic drivers are fully update, Restart your PC. This is a must.

2 – Download / Install Razor Cortex, Game Booster software. Get if from here: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex/game-booster
—– It may have a lot of fancy features, but ignore them all except for 1. Select “Boost” from the menu, then hit the “Boost Now!” button right before you play Tera.

      3 – Run Tera
—– Go into the graphic settings and under “Presets” select “0”. Save Settings, then play Tera
—– If Preset 0 is running smooth after playing for 10+ minutes, then push it up to Preset 1. Keep on pushing it up until it starts to run too slow.
—– For dungeons and level 65 stuff like “Gridiron” PvP battleground and large open world PvP, you will probably want to push it down to Preset 0 so it will not lag with all the action happening on your screen.

      Hello,

Has Tera always lagged, new player maybe? OR Has it been smooth before and now it is lagging?

Also, does it lag everywhere or in certain areas. Example: I get good frame rates except when I enter an overly filled area like Amadjuak Trading Post when there are tons of players there.

CPU: Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core 2 GHz (overclocks to 2.42 GHz)
      RAM: 4 GB
GRAPHICS: Integrated Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail)
      HARD DRIVE: 500 GB

      Hi David,
A problem with Tera is that it does not take full advantage of processors that have more than 2 cores. So the Intel Celeron j1900 quad core processor will be treated like a dual core processor. On top of that Celerons have never been that good for playing highly graphical PC games.

This PC setup will not run Tera well, if at all. I do not recommend Tera for this computer.

btw, Tera is one of my favorite MMOs of all-time, mostly because it gets rid of the tab-aiming that most MMOs have. I am sure you will have fun.

          Hello,
Tera will run really slow on that system, tons of lag when you get to major cities and do max level dungeons and battlegrounds. I do not recommend playing Tera on that specific Dell Inspiron laptop.
