The Sims 4 was officially released for the Windows PC on September 2nd, 2014. It is rated “T” for Teen. Sorry MAC owners, Electronic Arts official statement is that they are only focusing on the PC version at this time. They have no word on a future MAC version. It’s been 5 years since the release of The Sims 3. The new game brings better graphics and sharable online content.

[adblockingdetector id=”1″]A new feature on The Sims 4 is called “The Gallery”. The Gallery will be used in Sims 4 instead of The Exchange. EA finally integrated the sharing of Sims creations with the community while you are logged into and playing your game. Besides sharing within the Sims 4 community you can also share your creations on Facebook. Remember that you may be able to play the full Sims 4 game offline but you must be connected to the Internet to use the new Gallery. The only other time you must have an online connection is when you first install the game and register it with Electronic Arts.

The older Sims 3 and the new Sims 4 are not compatible with each other. What I mean by this is that you cannot bring any of your Sims 3 content to the Sims 4. Also SimsPoints will not be supported by The Sims 4 but you can still use them for Sims 3 content within the Sims 3 store.

I know a lot of Sims fans are wondering, “Can I Run it?”, “Will my computer handle the new Sims?”, “Do I have to buy a new computer for The Sims 4? I just bought a new PC so I could play The Sims 3.” I’ll try to help everyone answer their questions relating to installing or playing The Sims 4 on their computers. Usually if I don’t know the answer someone within our website community.

Many of you Sims 2 fans that bought The Sims 3 back in 2009 and had multiple issues just to get it to run on your computer may be hesitant to buy the new Sims 4. The good news for all of you currently running The Sims 3 or The Sims Medieval smoothly on your Windows PC is that Electronic Arts did not raise the Sims 4 minimum system requirements by much when compared to The Sims 3 and Medieval. So chances are your Windows PC will run The Sims 4. But before you buy The Sims 4 please compare your desktop or laptop’s specs with the official Sims 4 minimum system requirements below. There were people that asked me for help installing the Sims 3 on computers that could not run it, so essentially they wasted their money. Don’t repeat this issue, please make sure your PC meets or exceeds the requirements below.

[adblockingdetector id=”5″]If you are not sure how to check your Windows PC specifications then just follow this tutorial I created on how to find all your main PC specs.

If you have any QUESTIONS about installing The Sims 3 or are not sure if your computer is compatible, feel free to ASK FOR HELP BELOW!

      Hello,
Sorry for the very late reply. Your laptop will be able to play The Sims 4. First try playing at Medium settings. If everything is really smooth, go for high settings and see how that works out.

Hi Joey, I know I’m a little late to the party, but I’m buying a new laptop for my girlfriend, and I have bought her the Sims 4 for Christmas.

We can get a really good deal on this laptop:
    http://buytodaypaylater.com.au/1271-hp-15-ay069tu-15

    Computer Type – Laptop
    Resolution (Pixels) – 1366 x 768
Processor Type – Intel Core i5
    Processor Model Number – 6200U
    Processor Cores – Dual Core
    Processor Memory Cache – 3MB L3
Processor Clock Speed (GHz) – 2.3
Processor Max. Clock Speed (GHz) – 2.8
    RAM (GB) – 8.0
    HDD Storage – 1TB\
Graphics Processor – Intel HD Graphics\\
    Operating System – Windows 10

And I’m most likely going to end up buying it. I’m pretty sure it’ll be able to run Sims 4 at least on low settings, but I just wanted a second opinion and you seem pretty reliable.

      Hi Emma,
The “Intel Celeron n2840” processor on that laptop will not be good to run The Sims 4 and similar games. The processors that will run The Sims 4 well are the Intel “Core i3”, “Core i5” and “Core i7” series. There are many models under the mentioned CPU series, all modern ones will work really well with The Sims 4.

Hi, i have a Mac and am looking to buy The Sims 4. I looked at the specifications and their minimum for a Mac is 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and mine is 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Does anyone know if the game would still work as I am looking to purchase it in the next few days and would rather not waste £50.
    Thank you in advance.

      Hi Piper,
The Sims 4 will run on your Mac, as long as you meet the other Mac System Requirements listed below:
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce 320M, 9600M, 9400M,ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or better. Video RAM of 256MB or better.

      MEMORY: 4GB RAM

HARD DRIVE: 10 GB of Hard Drive space

Also, since your CPU is a little underpowered for The Sims 4, it may skip frames or run a little sluggish. If it does this you can make the game run smoother by turning ON Laptop Mode.

_How-To Turn ON Laptop Mode in The Sims 4_
      * Click the ” … ” icon in-game.
      * Click Game Options.
      * Check the option for Laptop Mode.

Hello! Ive been trying my hardest not to be forced to send this comment but I am ashamed I have to. I really dont know anything about computers and I’ve tried to google it all but sadly I’m stupid and it only made me more confused. So I’m sorry to ask since I see you get alot of these boring comments but I really need help!

    Can I play Sims 4 on a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series 2-1?
I dont even know what you need or dont need to know so here you go, a bunch of random words I dont understand:

    Processor
    Intel® Celeron® Processor N3050 (2M Cache, up to 2.16 GHz)

    Operating System
    Windows 10 Home 64-bit English

    Memory1
    2GB Single Channel DDR3 1600MHz (2GBx1)

    Hard Drive
    32GB eMMC

    Video Card2
    Intel® HD Graphics

    Display
11.6-inch HD (1366 x 768) Truelife LED-Backlit Touch Display with Wide Viewing Angle (IPS)

    Wireless
    802.11bgn + Bluetooth 4.0, 2.4 GHz, 1×1

If I deleted too much from this info and you need more, then here is the link to the computer:
    http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-11-3157-laptop/pd?p=inspiron-11-3157-laptop&oc=dndnrb1403be&dgc=ST&cid=262076&lid=4742362&acd=123098073120560&ven1=smYNzf414&ven2=,&ven3=474703045282122441&isredir=true

Or should I ask Mr Santa for a better computer and to be precise ask him for a The Sims 4 compatible computer? (Hopefully he knows about computers…)

Thank you SOOOOO much for your help!

      Hi Angelica,

I am sorry, my site auto marked your message as “spam”. I just checked my spam comment folder today and flagged your comment as a friendly one.

No need to apologize when asking for help running Sims 4. I had over 600 people ask for help on The Sims 3 the first year it was out and I am sure lots more reading my site had questions but were too shy to ask.

I see you posted all the specs I needed to figure this out. Sims 4 will run on that Dell Inspiron laptop you posted very sluggishly. You will probably hate the way it runs, I know I would.

I recommend getting a laptop with an “Intel Core i3” or faster processor. There are lots of different “Intel Core i3” processor models, any of them will do.

If you don’t mind answering another one, could you tell me whether a Thinkpad T410 will run the Sims 4? I have just now saved enough money for a laptop besides my Chromebook, and I really want to play the Sims 4! I have a few choices of refurbished laptops in my price range, but I like the T410 best so I hope it will work. Here are the specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional (64bit)
    Processor: Intel Core i5-540M (2.53GHz, 3MB Cache)
    Memory: 4GB DDR3 RAM (2GB + 2GB)
    Storage: 320GB Seagate 7400.4 HDD (7200rpm)
    Optical Drive: DVD+/-RW
Wireless: Intel 6200 802.11AGN, Bluetooth, Gobi 2000 WWAN
    Graphics: NVIDIA NVS 3100M with 256MB DDR3

    Thank you!

      Hi Remmy!

No problem. Those laptop specs are above the Sims 4 minimum system requirements. It will run but it is important that you do the following to guarantee that it runs the sims 4…

#1 – Always have the laptop A/C adapter plugged in while you play the Sims 4 or other highly graphical computer game. If you play while using the battery power, the laptop will slow down your CPU and possibly graphic power. So the laptop will go from being compatible to not compatible.

#2 – Try not to play with the laptop on your lap. Place the laptop on a desk, table or other similar surface. When the laptop is on your lap it will get a little hotter and if your body is accidentally blocking the fan exits it will get a lot hotter. Your laptop, like most has a smart censor that lowers down the power of your CPU if it gets too hot. If you lower down the power of your CPU it can’t power the game well.

[Optional] Even when you follow #1 & #2 above correctly, laptops always raise in temperate when playing graphical games like Sims 4 (this is normal). It gets hotter because processing a game like Sims 4 is a tough job for CPUs and Graphic cards even if they are 100% compatible. To combat the heat I purchased a “laptop cooling pad” for my laptop. The cooling pad will have extra fans that help cool down your laptop while playing games, or any other time you want to cool it down. I can link you one if you never heard of one. I bought mine from Amazon but they have them in retail computer stores.

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I’m glad to know that it will work! I have heard of laptop cooling pads, so I will be sure to get one. Thanks again! 😀

I’m sure you’re tired of this question, but if you have the time (and still look at this) I’d love to know if my computer will be able to run the Sims 4:

    GPU: GeForce GT 710M
    CPU: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80GHz (4 CPUs)
    Memory: 6GB RAM

      Hi Jess

Haha, no I am not tired of answering. I always come to checkup on questions whenever I am not playing any computer games.

Thanks for posting your Windows laptop specs, helps me out a lot. The Intel Corei5-3337U CPU, GeForce GT 710M graphics card and 6 GB of RAM are all compatible with The Sims 4. But it may not work if you don’t do the following…

#1 – Update to the latest GeForce GT 710M laptop graphics driver or else The Sims 4 might give you a “Device 0” or some other error saying that the graphics card is not compatible. You can get the graphics driver for free here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
During the Installation options select “Custom (Advanced)”, on the next screen select “Perform a clean installation”. From there on just follow the on-screen instructions and restart your laptop after the graphics card driver install is finished.

#2 – Always play The Sims 4 with the laptop power adapter plugged in. If you try to play on battery power the laptop will try to conserve your battery and slow down your CPU and graphics card, this is bad. You don’t want your CPU and graphics card to slow down if you want to play a PC game like Sims 4, you need your CPU and graphics card to run at full power or bad things may happen.

#3 – When Sims 4 is running go into the Sims 4 graphic settings/options and set everything to the lowest graphic settings possible. This will help make the game run as smooth as possible. Your laptop is compatible but it’s not powerful enough to run the Sims 4 on high graphic settings. Play The Sims 4 for an hour and see if it runs smooth. If you don’t get any lag then you can try pushing the graphics up to medium settings and test out how that runs. If there is too much lag push it down to the lowest settings again.

#4 – (optional) This might help The Sims 4 run smoother on your laptop. It is a free program that will temporarily shut down any background programs that will take away system resources while running the game and slowing it down a bit. http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
After you install Game Booster, start it up before you run The Sims 4 and press the huge “Start Boost” button. Then play The Sims 4 or any other game you want.

      Hello Robb,

Your Core i3 CPU and 3 GB of RAM are fine for playing Sims 4. But the component in question is the graphics card. I need to know the exact model. To find that out run the “dxdiag” again. This time look at the “Display 1” tab. I need to know exactly what it says for “Name:”, “Manufacturer:” and “Chip Type:”.

Now that we both know that Windows and the graphics card driver are fully up-to-date and we can try other things that may fix the issue.

Step 1: Identify all Anti-Virus, Firewall and Security software installed on your PC.

Step 2: Go into the Option/Settings in each individual Anti-Virus, Firewall and Security software you have. Search thoroughly for the setting/option that says something like “Exceptions” OR “Exclusions”. Each piece of software has their own terminology so I can’t tell you exactly what it says but they all work the same underneath.

Step 3: When you find the “Exclude” or “Exceptions” list add Origin (which helps launch Sims 4) and the Sims 4 game. Do not forget to repeat this process on every piece of protection software you have on your PC (Anti-Virus, Firewall and Security)

Step 4: Restart your PC and play The Sims 4 (start Game Booster first)

What you are doing is telling your protection software that Origin and Sims 4 is not a virus or any type of threat to your computer. Origin and Sims 4 are programs you trust that you do not want monitored. If this does not work then we can try something else that will take a bit more time. I wanted to try the faster fix first.

This solution has fixed the Sims 4 Unable to Start: Initialization error you get at start up only when the PC is up-to-date and the computer is fully compatible with The Sims 4. So before you try this fix please start a new post/comment above and post your computer specs like Processor, RAM, Graphics card and Windows version. Then we can first check if your PC hardware is compatible with the Sims 4 demands.

Hi Robb, sorry that didn’t work. Let’s try another possible fix…

Step 1: Download the free IObit Uninstaller and CCleaner. Download the “portable” versions of each.
              http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/iobit_uninstaller_portable
              http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/portable
In case you are not familiar with “portable apps”, they are full programs that are self-contained inside 1 folder. You extract the programs anywhere you want, on your desktop, on a USB drive or anywhere else. Then go into the folder and open up the program you want to use. After you are done using the program you can easily delete it by deleting the main folder it is in. There will be no extra files or other crap spread out into your Windows system files that do not get deleted. This is why I like Portrable Apps so much.

Step 2: Open up IObit Uninstaller, uninstall The Sims 4. Follow all of the on-screen directions. When you get to the IObit Uninstaller advanced/thorough uninstall at the end select to delete everything.
Repeat the same IObit Uninstaller uninstall process with Origin.

Step 3: When both The Sims 4 and Origin are fully uninstalled using IObit Uninstaller, restart your computer.

Step 4: Open up CCleaner portable. There will be 2 CCleaner programs that you can open, open up the “CCleaner.exe” version.
Use the “Cleaner”, then “Registry” options. If you are not familiar with CCleaner you can checkout a tutorial I made on how to use CCleaner here http://www.cleartechinfo.com/learn-how-to-ccleaner-clean-optimize-free-up-hard-drive-space-windows

Step 5: After using CCleaner, restart your computer again.

Step 6: Download and install a fresh copy of Origin. Get it here https://www.origin.com/en-us/download
After Origin is fully installed and fully updated, install a fresh copy of The Sims 4 again.

Step 7: Make sure The Sims 4 is fully up-to-date. It might take a while to download the latest patches and updates, there were a lot since the game was released.

Step 8: Play The Sims 4.

          Np Robb,

Looking at all the full Dell laptop specs your computer is compatible with the Sims 4 but barely. This means you will be able to play but at the lowest possible graphic settings.

Here is how to get Sims 4 running…
Step 1: Make sure Windows 7 is fully up-to-date. Microsoft releases new Windows updates about once a month. If you are not sure how to properly update your Dell laptop that is not a problem. I created a tutorial on the subject located here http://www.cleartechinfo.com/how-to-update-windows-7-microsoft-windows-update

Side Note: Update everything except the graphic drivers that they offer you via Microsoft Windows Update.

Step 2: After Windows 7 is fully updated go to the Intel Download Center located here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Click the blue rectangle button on the page that says, “Update Drivers”. This will lead you to a page where you download Intel software that scans your laptop and will make sure you get the latest, proper drivers.

Step 3: After the Intel graphic drivers are installed restart Windows.

Step 4: Download / Install Game Booster http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Step 5: When you are ready to play Sims 4 open up Game Booster first, then click the huge circular button that says, “Start Boost”.

Step 6: Run The Sims 4

Step 7: While running The Sims 4 be sure to go to the in-game graphic options/settings and lower everything down to the lowest or else it might lag a lot while playing.

            Hi, Joey
I did all the steps above. Installing new updates and restarting windows, Updating Drivers and restarting it again… And install Game boost. But It’s still won’t open. The same problem.

      Hi Marriah,
I am not sure of your laptops exact PC specs. So I had to do some research and look up the CPU, RAM and Graphics card specs for your HP Elitebook 8440p. This is what I found: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02030597
It just gives a general range of PC specs. So your HP laptop came in different flavors. The slowest CPU it could have is the Intel Core i5, which is very fast and good for Sims 4 gaming. The slowest graphics card it could have is the Intel GMA HD (not sure of the exact model of Intel, only you can tell me that) which will run The Sims 4 when paired with your CPU. Your HP laptop should have at least 4 GB of system RAM which passes the Sims 4 requirements.

Overall, your HP Elitebook 8440p laptop is compatible with the Sims 4. Happy gaming!

If you have any more questions fell free to ask. Also if you want to know the exact CPU, RAM and Graphics card specs of your laptop you can follow my easy step-by-step tutorial here: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/how-to-quickly-find-windows-system-information-cpu-ram-graphics-card

      Hello JaLesia,

Thank you for posting all the specs, makes this easier for me to figure out 🙂
The desktop PC you listed is Sims 4 compatible. This PC will run the game well on low graphic settings. There is a chance it will run it on medium settings.

      Hi Don,

No problem. I enjoy helping out fellow gamers.
You are right about the graphics card being the issue. There are 2 ways to fix this particular Sims 4 graphics problem on your desktop, buy a newer computer with a better graphics card or if your desktop PC supports it, buy a new graphics card.

Let’s hope your desktop PC has a capability to support a new graphics card. In order for a desktop PC to support a store bought graphics card it must contain a “PCI Express x16” slot. To figure out this information here is what you need to do:

Step 1 – Open up your desktop PC care. (PLEASE do this while standing on a tiled, wooden or other surface that does not generate tons of static electricity like a carpeted floor. Static electricity is your computer’s worst enemy.)

Step 2 – Here is a marked image of mine. It shows you what a PCI Express x16 slot looks like http://i1.minus.com/icg1Wk.jpg Compare the image with what you see inside of your desktop PC. (PCI Express x16 slots come in all colors of the rainbow. Odds are yours is a different color than the one in the image.)
Does your PC have one? If yes, then proceed to Step 3.

Step 3 – Now that your desktop PC case is opened you need to find out how many watts your power supply is rated at. The power supply is the metal box that the large PC power cable connects to from the outside. Look around it for the label. Read the label and see how many watts it is rated at.

If you have a PCI Express x16 slot available tell me what your power supply is rated at and I can help find an appropriate graphics card that will run The Sims 4 and all future Sims 4 expansion packs. If you don’t have one I can help you find a low cost desktop PC that will run it OR an alternative is to play the Sims 4 on another computer within your household. I can tell you if other PCs at your home will run it.

Thank you Joey. Yes, my PC does have the “PCI Express x16” slot and the wattage output of my power supply is 430W.

I believe this is the info you requested.

Again, i really appreciate you taking your time do answer this.

Np Don. Thanks for getting all the info I requested.

I found a compatible graphics card that is well above the Sims 4 minimum system requirements.
          MSI nVidia GeForce GT 730
          2 GB (fast GDDR5 memory)
Needs a minimum of 300 Watt power supply
Here it is on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1P6lS5w

          Graphics card install process…
00 – Pre-physical install. Go to: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/83819/en-us and to download the latest GeForce graphic card update for your setup. Be aware, this is the latest update as of this writing. They can put out a new update in a day or month from now. So you can browse the site when you get your new card and see if they have any newer updates. It will be a good move to download or place the nvidia driver file on your desktop. You will know why when it is time to install the driver.

1 – This must be done while you are standing on a surface that does not generate a lot of static electricity like a carpeted floor. A tiled or wooden surface would be good.

2 – The computer must be OFF, power cord unplugged. Now open the case. You MIGHT need a Philips or flat-head screwdriver

EDIT: I forgot to mention to wear an anit-static wrist strap during the install process.

3 – Look at the empty PCI Express x16 slot you will be placing your new graphics card into. There is a panel on the case which needs to be popped out for the graphics card to properly fit. If you can’t figure out the correct panel, grab your graphics card and slowly attempt to install it in the slot. You will now see the part that connects to your monitor does not fit through the case due to the panel that needs to be popped out. You can pop out this small panel with your hands, but be careful since the edges can be very sharp.

4 – Install the graphics card. Slowly push it into the PCI Express x16 slot. On some computers you may hear or feel a light “snap”, that just means it is fully installed, do not try to push it in further. You may need to screw in the metal panel part of the graphics card that sticks out and connects to your monitor into the case. This is where you may need your screwdriver.

5 – Put your case back together, plug in the power cord and anything else you disconnected. Plug in your new monitor to the new graphics card (again please remember to plug your monitor to your NEW graphics card and ignore the old monitor connection). Start up your PC.

6 – When your PC logs into Windows it will look really weird. Don’t worry or panic, this is 100% normal. Install the new driver you previously downloaded. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7- At the end of the graphics driver install it may ask you to restart your PC, if it does not then restart your PC on your own. After the PC restart your new graphics cards will be 100% installed and ready to play Sims 4.

There are videos on YouTube that show you this process. Be aware that some of them install these super high end graphics cards that need a 600+ Watt power supply and have extra connections and steps in order to make them work which do not apply to your graphics card.

      Hi Catina,

Thanks for posting all the PC specs. The processor and RAM are really good and pass the Sims 4 minimum requirements. But the graphics card is too slow to run The Sims 4. It is the Intel GMA 3100 which is below the minimum requirements.

I assume this is a desktop PC? There is a chance you can upgrade the graphics card to something newer/faster which will run The Sims 4. Your desktop PC needs to have an open “PCI Express x16” slot. That is the only way you can put in a new graphics card. Here is a labeled picture of a desktop PC motherboard, there you will see what a PCI Express x16 slot looks like (btw, it can be any color of the rainbow, if you have one inside your PC I am sure it is probably a different color)

Your laptop passes all the Sims 4 minimum requirements. You can play the game at low to medium graphic settings, but at medium settings there is a small chance the game will slow down and lag a bit, just go back to Low graphic settings. btw, when I talk about graphic settings I am talking about the settings you configure in-game while playing The Sims 4.

Also if you get any graphic problems or errors related to graphics, you just need to update to the latest nVidia GeForce 710M graphics card driver and restart your PC after the install. It is a free update. Get it here: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/80915/en-us

Thanks for the detailed info. You need to go into the nvidia video/graphics card settings and manually set it to run the GeForc e 710M. I haven’t owned a laptop with 2 graphics cards like yours for a few years (the one I have not only has 1) so I will tell you how to generally go into the nvidia graphics options. But you have to search everything inside of the options until you find it.

Step 1: Make sure your laptop’s power adapter is plugged into a power outlet. Actually you should always do this before playing any new game like The Sims 4. (if you do not do this the other steps and sims 4 might not work)
Step 2: Right-Click on an empty space on your desktop, a popup menu will appear. Select the nVidia Control Panel.
Step 3: A new window will popup with a lot of different options. You need to find the setting that says something like, “Preferred Graphics Processor”, “Manually Set Graphics” or something like that. You can first look under, Manage 3D Settings.
Step 4: When you find the option set it to always use the GeForce 710M. (Also there may be a setting that will tell it to always use the 710M when you run The Sims 4.)
Step 5: Once you force your laptop to always use the nVidia GeForce 710M via the nvida settings you are ready to play The Sims 4. Remember, your laptop power adapter must remain plugged in. Run the Sims 4.

Btw, you do not need another laptop to run The Sims 4. It passes all the requirements. It will also pass all the Sims 4 expansion pack requirements when they come out. These types of problems are comment when a new Sims game comes out. Back when Sims 3 was new I must have helped over a hundred people with problems despite them having compatible computers, then Electronic Arts finally patched things up to work okay after like 6 months to a year.

      Hi,

Thanks for posting all the specs. Your new laptop will run The Sims 3 really well. At worst it will run The Sims 3 on medium graphic settings.

The newer Sims 4 is a different story. The minimum requirements are notably higher than the older Sims 3. Your laptop passes the minimums but not by that much. So your laptop will run the Sims 4 but at the lowest graphic settings. Any higher and you may notice a lot of lag or other problems.

      Hello,

The laptop will run The Sims 4. It meets the minimum requirements but barely. For this laptop I’d recommend running the Sims 4 at the lowest possible in-game graphic settings for the smoothest gameplay. You can try to raise the in-game graphic settings slightly higher but there is a chance it will lag.

      Hi Jamie,

The processor on there “1 GHz A-Series Dual Core A4” is too slow to play the Sims 4 without extreme lag or crashing of the computer during play… if it even installs without errors.

If this is for The Sims 4 then definitely take it back. Checkout the conversation below where I helped Michelle find a proper Sims 4 computer for her daughter. I linked a couple of computers that would work. Or you can do what she did and find a really good deal on a computer that would work on CraigsList.

Feel free to post the specs here of all the computers you are looking to buy, before you buy them. I will tell you which ones will run the Sims 4 the best.

      Hi Michelle,

Sorry, that computer will not run the new Sims 4 without problems. The Intel Celeron CPU is too slow.

You need to find a computer with an Intel “Core i3” processor (Core i5 and i7s will also work but they are more expensive).
Beware of the Intel Core i3 processors with a “U” or “BK” at the end of their processor model number. Some of those may not be fast enough either.

I can help look for a computer today but I need to know 2 things…
1 – Do you want a Desktop or Laptop?
2 – What is your budget?

I checked around. The lowest price PCs I could find that will run the new Sims 4 smoothly without any problems are $350. I found some around/below $300 but they are the slow for gaming PCs that may cause issues when running Sims 4 and future Sims 4 expansion packs.

I found 2 at $350 that will run Sims 4 smoothly.

          http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229616

This one will run Sims 4 smoothly: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220743

This one will run Sims 4 with slightly better graphics: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229616

For the same price I would say get the one with an AMD FX-4300 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT 720 graphics card. This is the best gaming PC you will find near $350.

Another option a good friend of mine took was looking on CraigsList where he found a great deal a while back. There you can look for PCs with “Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz” and faster PCs, plus Intel Core i3 and AMD FX series PCs. I am not sure if you like shopping on CraigsList so I didn’t check there. But if you want something sub-$300 that will work well it is the place to go.

            No problem.

That is a great buy for the price. The Intel Core i5 2.4GHz CPU is very fast. Will run the Sims 4 very well. It is a great buy for the price. That setup usually goes for roughly $150-250 more than what they are selling it for.

I’d say go for that one.

      Hi Beth,

The HP laptop you listed will not run the Sims 4. The main reason why is that the CPU is too slow to run the game. During install the sims 4 will either give you this weird message on the screen and freeze or if the game installs correctly it will run so slow like someone is pausing and unpausing the game.

If you are going to shop for a new laptop this holiday season I’d recommend one with an “Intel Core i3” CPU that runs over 2.0 GHz. Also make sure it comes with a minimum of 6 GB of RAM. These 2 specs will guarantee that the Sims 4 and any expansion pack coming out in 2015+ will run.

      Hi Matthew,

Thanks for posting your computer specs.
Yes, your PC will be able to run The Sims 4. Just be aware that due to the Intel HD 4400 graphics card the PC will not be able to run the game at really high graphic settings. I suggest running the game at low graphic settings (you adjust this within the Sims 4 settings). If the low graphic settings run really well then you can try going up to medium but don’t expect it to run really smooth at medium.

Wondering if I can run SIMS4 on my desktop DELL Inspiron 530S, with Vista Home 6.0, Intel Premium Dual E2200 @ 2.2GHz, 3 GB RAM, and the wild card,……..Intel GMA3100 @ 286 MB video card…..Help (please)? Thanks, – Kevin

Unfortunately the Intel GMA 3100 is under The Sims 4 bare minimum requirements. Also the Intel E2200 processor is a little below the minimum requirements.
I would not buy it for this particular computer. The Sims 4 will either give you an error during install or if it installs there will be lots of lag even at the lowest graphic settings at best.

    Hi Joey,

I’m not sure if you will be able to help, but I am looking for a laptop that will run The Sims 4 as smoothly as possible, and with minimal lag.
I asked a question on Yahoo Answers, and still am confused by what specs mean what (complete computer rookie), so I have compiled a list of some of the laptops I thought would do from a local store. I do live in Australia, so am not sure how much luck you will have finding the laptops, or if you can be bothered spending that much time looking up specs but these are ones I may be interested in.
    + Satellite L50-B05C
    + Acer E5-571PG-5244
    + Acer V3-371-5017
    + HP-15-JOO3TU
    + HP Pavillion 15-P069TX
Which of these would be the best option for running The Sims 4? Or is there a better option out there that would be more suitable for these?
I am willing to spend up to around $900 as I am picky with how it will look…

    Thank you for your help!!!

      Hello. I remember you 🙂

The fastest laptop out of the bunch you selected is the “Acer E5-571PG-5244”. It has the fastest CPU and Graphics card out of the bunch. It will run The Sims 4 on low to medium settings.

Btw, by the time you buy the laptop which has an nvidia graphics card… be sure to go to the nvidia drivers website and download the latest drivers for your laptop. The exact graphics card model is “nVidia GeForce GT 710M”. I say this because when a huge game like the Sims 4 comes out nvidia (and ATI/AMD) release a new driver that is sometimes optimized for the new game. Nvidia has not released that new driver yet so not even laptops that are brand new as of this month will get this new optimized driver.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

      Hi Andreea,

The processor your computer has, is it the Intel Core 2 “Duo”? If so the 2 GHz version you have is definitely compatible.
The nVidia GeForce 210 is compatible.
The 2,048 MB of RAM is compatible but barely, this is your weakest part for playing Sims 4.

Overall The Sims 4 will run on your computer. I’d run the Sims 4 on very Low graphics settings, or else the game might be laggy.

I’d recommend downloading the free Windows app “Game Booster” from the Razor gaming site. Here is a link: http://www.razerzone.com/gamebooster
You first run Game Booster, then run Sims 4. This combo will help take away some lag you may get while playing the Sims 4.

At the current time only a few of us that run the site can delete comments. If you ever want any of your comments deleted I will happily do it for you asap.

I will definitely make a note to have the website programmer add the ability to allow anyone on this site to delete their own comments. (I would do it but honestly I am not that smart and would probably break the website, hehe)

      Hi Niarra,

I compared your specs to the required Sims 4 minimums. According to the people that make The Sims (Electronic Arts), your computer is not fast enough to run it. The AMD A6-4400M processor is too slow to run the new Sims 4. It will give you errors during install or if it installs it will not be able to run without errors or freezing your computer.

      Hi Phoenix,

Thank you for posting all of your computer specs.

Unfortunately the computer you have will not be able to run the new Sims 4 game. The main reason is that the “AMD E-300” processor is not fast enough.
If you try and install Sims 4 on that computer it will either give you a blue screen, “Device0” or some other error.

You cannot upgrade that computer. So the Sims 4 must be played on a different PC with a faster processor. I am sorry to say that you either need to play it on another computer you own with a faster processor and graphics card or buy a new PC with a faster processor and graphics card.
