    Hi,

I can check your computer specs against whatever games you want to play. I just need some info from you…
What are your computer specs? If you don’t know that is not a problem, just checkout my easy tutorial on how to do that: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/how-to-quickly-find-windows-system-information-cpu-ram-graphics-card

I need your Processor, RAM, Graphics card and Windows version.

I also need to know what games you want to play. I will tell you if you can run them without problems.

I have been an avid PC gamer since the 90s, so I can pretty much do what Game-O-Meter does off the top of my head, hehe.

If you used the IObit Uninstaller 4 program (not the standard Windows Uninstaller) to look for anything suspicious even under a name not associated with Ask.com then there is something else you can try.

You can use the free version of “Malwarebyes Anti-Malware” and “SuperAntiSpyware” programs to scan your PC and look for anything suspicious.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

When running the programs use the “Thorough” / “Full” scan option on your computer. If you use the Quick scans they will probably be useless and not worth your time. Remember, download the free versions, no need for the pay ones for what you need them for.

In the tutorial I tell you to go use IObit Uninstaller 4 to look under the “Toolbars & Plug-ins” tab to see if anything is there. What you can also do is look in the “Programs” category tab to see if Ask.com or any other toolbar is mentioned there.

Don’t just look for “Ask.com”, look for anything that looks suspicious. Something you know you didn’t install. It may be hiding under a different name.

I just created a quick tutorial that will show you how to solve your problem. It is on one of my YouTube channels.

You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EPTk70-8nU

    Hi Pearl,

The Ask.com toolbar replaced the default search engine on your web browser. You have to change the default search engine setting. I can show you how to do this with a few steps, no problem. But I just need to know what web browser(s) are infected with the default Ask.com search since there are different instructions involved for each one. I assume you are either using Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera or a combination of the ones I just mentioned?

    Hello,

Even if you were to successfully move the Windows DLL system files to their original folder Avast the program may not work properly.

Btw, have you read about the big controversy concerning Avast? It turns out Avast was spying on its customers. It has also been installing Adware on their customer’s computers. I would not recommend Avast to anyone due to this.

If you want a good, free alternative I’d go with Commodo https://www.comodo.com/

If you want the best Anti-Virus program out there, IMO it is Kaspersky http://amzn.to/1DUHUlZ

btw, I must mention for any other Sims fan having the same problem… there may be a different solution for you or your computer will simply never run The Sims 4 no matter what you do. So please do what Bri did and post your computer specs.

If you are not sure how to find your PC specs then checkout this video tutorial I created on how to easily find your Windows PC specs: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/how-to-quickly-find-windows-system-information-cpu-ram-graphics-card

    Hi Bri,

I checked the benchmarks for your setup. For Sims 4 gameplay it is not that bad. Your PC has enough power to run the game at the very least on Low graphic settings.

I also checked to see what type of games people are running on the AMD A6-5400K APU + AMD Radeon HD 7540D setup. I found someone on YouTube that has the same setup as you (actually lesser memory) running Battlefield 4. Battlefield 4 is extra, super tough on computers. It needs a LOT faster computer to run when compared to the Sims 4 requirements. Here is the video I found: http://youtu.be/Gwgmj7NhgD8

So if that guy can run Battlefield 4 with your setup then your computer is definitely powerful to run it at least on Low graphic settings.

Now onto the hard part… figuring out what the problem is, why you get the black screen that says The Sims 4 is “Not Supported”.

I might have figured it out. You will get that black screen and error message in a lot of games if you do not have the proper graphics drivers installed or if you do not have the latest graphics drivers installed while trying to play a modern game like The Sims 4.

    Go here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
    * Install the latest graphics drivers for your computer
    * After the graphics drivers are fully installed you MUST restart your computer for it to work 100%
    * After the computer is restarted try to play the Sims 4 demo

Good idea! What I could do initially is put a little blurb in the Ask The Techs forum description saying something like we also help Spanish speakers. If the section gets flooded with Spanish questions then I will break it off into a second Ask The Techs (Spanish version).

    Hi Rojo,

    Nice to hear from you.

Until the site is flooded again with lots of questions and answers like it used to be before the spammers took over I just want a single help forum. Also back then I never told you but it was common for site users to PM me saying they were confused as to what forum to post specific questions to. Other users would just post to the wrong forums, Davo and I made sure to shuffle those in the correct places. The site users I always try to focus on and make it as friendly as possible for are the ones that may not be experienced on forums and not that technically savvy.

btw, have you modded Windows 8 with those add-ons I linked you to?

    Hello 🙂

Here is a good power supply that will go well with your setup, “SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 650W”.
If you can’t find that exact power supply to purchase where you live then look for an alternative power supply that is “Gold” or “Platinum” certified. Also the power supply must be “ATX” since the motherboard you selected is “ATX”. btw, most motherboards are ATX.

For a computer case / cabinet I would suggest the “Cooler Master HAF 912”.
Note on computer cases / cabinets, this is the one part where you have many good options. People usually pick the case that looks the best to them. So you don’t need to select the one I picked out. I picked it out because it is a good case that cools well at a low price.

There is a speed difference between the 1333 and 1600 Mhz but it will not be very noticeable.
For your motherboard I’d suggest any 1600 or 1333 RAM sticks that are listed on the Asus Z97C compatibility list. Look at the price differences between the two, if the difference is not that great then buy the 1600 Mhz RAM.
Here is the Asus page that links to that Memory list document: http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z97C/HelpDesk_QVL/
If the exact Corsair Vengeance DDR3 memory you selected is not listed on the Asus Memory compatibility list you must select another to avoid any possible conflicts.

nVidia GeForce graphics cards will work for your use but those cards are primarily for playing computer games. nVidia Quadro graphics cards are optimized for CAD and other professional engineering software.
Is Amazon available where you live? If it is you can buy a Quadro card here: http://amzn.to/1sYE0Rz

For HDD the “Transcend 256 GB SSD” you selected will replace it. Install Windows and all your software on the SSD.
You can also use your old 500 GB HDD on this new computer. In fact most people that build new computers with SSDs use their older HDDs for data storage. The motherboard you selected supports up to 4 drives, SSDs and / or HDDs.

    Hello Abhijit,

Here is the list of minimum computer components. Since these are the minimums, it would be optimum if you buy parts that are better / faster than what I recommend.

    OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 64-bit
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7 (any model with at least 4 cores)
    RAM: 16 GB
HARD DRIVE: Any current generation 2013 / 2014 that uses SSD (“solid state drive”) technology. You can now find 256 gigabyte drives for a decent price.
GRAPHICS: Any graphics card with an “nVidia Quadro” processor. This graphics processor is made for CAD professionals. There are various models at different prices. Research the various models and buy the best one you can afford.
MOTHERBOARD: Asus is my favorite brand of motherboard. It has been the most reliable in my own experience. Alternatively Gigabyte and MSI boards are good. First select the exact processor model you want to purchase, then see what “socket” it uses on a motherboard. That is how you will begin your motherboard selection process.
    MONITOR: Resolution of 2560×1440

I hope my information helps 🙂

    Hello hoogy,

I have about 8 different Adobe programs installed on my PC that came with the suite I bought. I can test it out for you on my PC. But I need to know exactly what Adobe program you are talking about.

    Hello Pearl,

Thank you for posting all the details. It helps, especially since the first solution I was about to suggest was one you already tried (fresh reinstall).

_____Try this Adobe Flash crashing fix_____
    Using Firefox, disable “hardware acceleration”.
Step 1 – Open Firefox and go to this Adobe link: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html#main_Find_Flash_Player_version_type_and_capabilities__Flash_developers_only_

Step 2: Scroll down to #5 on the list. There should be a square animation there. RIGHT-click the animation and select “Settings…”

Step 3 – UNcheck the “Enable hardware acceleration” box.

Step 4 – Close/Exit Firefox. Then open it up again. Perform Step 1 and 2 again above. Verify that the Enable hardware acceleration checkbox is NOT checked.

Step 5 – Using Firefox, play a Zynga game that uses Flash and usually crashes on you.

    Hello,

I had this problem also. What worked for me is using the Windows app “UltraSurft”. You need to download it to a USB thumb drive. Then you plug in the USB drive into whatever computer you are using. Last, activate the app. You should not be able to go past most firewalls.

Ultrasurf is free to use. btw, it works about 80% of the time I use it.

If nothing works there is a chance your PC is infected with at least 1 virus. Below is a guide I created that will show you how to clean your PC from viruses, malware and spyware.

PLEASE NOTE: All 3 programs have free versions. Download the Free versions from all 3 programs.

    STEP 1: Download / Install Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

    Hi Amanjot,

When you get an Adobe Flash player dump /crash do you get any error codes or any type of reference codes? If so can you give me this information?
