The Sims Medieval System Requirements (Can’t play it on your computer?)

The Sims Medieval is the latest in the “The Sims” gaming series produced by Electronic Arts. The biggest change in the latest Sims is the time frame that the game takes place. We are all used to the modern or semi-modern time frame of the Sims games. But as the name
suggests the Sims Medieval takes place in the Middle Ages. Some Sims gamer purists out there may not like this new game but for all the rest of us The Sims Medieval kicks butt.
The last game in the Sims series, “The Sims 3” was a huge hit. A ton of Sims 3 games were sold along with various Sims 3 expansion packs. Unfortunately with the huge amount of sales came a huge amount of problems with The Sims 3.
If you have any problem installing or playing The Sims Medieval smoothly on your computer or if you are not sure if your computer is compatible with The Sims Medieval feel free to ask for help below in the comments section.

re: Sims medieval expansion pack [Jwarner]
Hi Jwarner. This an issue that has been happening to some people the past few months. Here is what EA support would recommend…
#1 – Fully update your operating system. You did not post if you had a PC, Mac and what PC or Mac OS you are running, so I can’t point you to a specific tutorial that shows you how to easily do this.
#2 – Update your graphic card drivers. Again I have no idea what PC or Mac graphics card you have, so I can’t give you instructions on how to do this on your specific setup.
#3 – Restart your PC after the graphics drivers are installed
#4 – Only after you perform steps 1-4 above the following will work…
Download the Sims Medieval update/patch here:
PC Disc Patch: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims/patches/TheSimsMediev...
PC Digital Download Patch: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims/patches/TheSimsMediev...

Sims medieval expansion pack
Hi I just bought the expansion pack and when I went to download it, it said that my orininal medieval was not up to date, but when I checked it, it said that it was up to date...help?
re: trouble loading [Mia]
Hi Mia. That is odd, not sure how the icon vanished. There is another way you can run Sims Medieval though.
Checkout this Mac guide on how to run The Sims without the launcher.
NOTE: In the thread they talk about The Sims 3. Sims 3 and Medieval work the same way and are programmed the same way.
- When reading the forum post, substitute “The Sims 3” with “The Sims Medieval”.
- Also substitute “TS3.exe” with “TSM.exe”.

trouble loading
My Sims Medieval has been working fine, however today when I went to play it, it seems to have disappeared off my mac? All the related folders are there when I put the disc in, but the game icon has disappeared and I can't find it anywhere??
re: pixel shader 2.0 [Guest]
Hello. If your graphics card was not built with the capability to support “Pixel Shader 2.0” then there it will not support it no matter what you do. You need a new video card. You did post your specs but if you have a desktop there is a chance you can upgrade your graphics card. If you have a laptop then you will not be able to upgrade your graphics card.
pixel shader 2.0
Hi I recently got sims medieval and i downloaded it but its saying i need something called pixel shader 2.0 to play and i dont have it what can i do?
re: Sound is skipping/repeating [Angie C]
Hi Angie. Can you please post your computer specs please? An easy way to do this is to download the free version of “Speccy”. You can get Speccy here: http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
- Open up Speccy then follow the instructions in this image: http://cleartechinfo.minus.com/mG6siivnS#1o
- It will give you a link/url. Copy that link and paste it on here
Then I can inspect your computer hardware.
Sound is skipping/repeating
Hello, I'm having a problem with The Sims Medieval audio skipping/repeating. Say for example it'll be like "You are the watcher|watcher watcher| and the people..." Something like that. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it hasn't work. Besides this small problem there's nothing else wrong with the game. I don't know what's going on.
re: Game won't start after loading [Aadline]
Hi Aadline. I’m sorry to tell you that the game key/code is the only [legal] way to get the game working. That key/code is more important than the discs or even the receipt for proof of purchase.
DISCLAIMER: I do not support or recommend doing the following for anyone that has never purchased Sims Medieval. I am only recommending this to Aadline since she already gave up her money to buy the game.
Alternative Option: Do different Sims Medieval Google searches looking for computer game pirate sites. They will probably have some sort of method that will allow you to play the game without the key/code.
Game won't start after loading
I have download the game, I have played it but then I go back to play after a while and it says "Please Insert Disk" right when you get to the quest page. I can see my quests in the back so I'm not sure what the issue was. I have bought the game but since I bought it a while ago I have lost the game otherwise this wouldn't be an issue. I contacted EA and they told me to take my code and put it into Origins but since I lost the game (inside of it's case, where the code is)
this is an impossible task. So I'm wondering if there is some way to fix this or did I just lose my money?
re: Sims Medieval with Sims 3? [1BadBoy]
Hello 1BadBoy. Sims Medieval was programmed using the same or very similar source engine as Sims 3. What this means is that Sims 3 and Sims Medieval will run about the same on your computer. If Sims 3 runs fine, without any errors then Sims Medieval will run the same. Sims Medieval only has trouble running on computers that can’t run Sims 3 or have issues running Sims 3.
Sims 2, Sims 3 and Sims Medieval are entirely independent games. They don’t need each other to run and they install in different folders. There will be no conflicts. If you have a lot of games and programs installed on this computer in question the only issue would be hard drive space. Does your computer have enough storage space to install another Sims game? You must have at least 6.3 GB of hard drive space for it to install. On top of that if your daughter wants the cool, new Pirates and Nobles expansion pack for Sims Medieval you will need an additional 2.5 GB of hard drive space.
Sims Medieval with Sims 3?
My daughter really wants Sims Medieval. However, we already have Sims 3 installed on the computer she uses (along with Sims 2 Double Deluxe).
My questions is this:
> Will she have any problems running the game (assuming the hardware supports it - which it should) if we already have Sims 2 and Sims 3 games installed?
> Or will it cause any corruption with all these games installed at the same time?
Thanks!
re: Having Same Issue [Twiglit]
Hi Twiglit. You are having the same issue as what person on here? Also, you have the same system as what person on here?
re: Sims Medieval [Brian]
Hi Brian. I would not buy any games used, only new. The reason is that the install code might already be used on another computer. So when you install it and log in to play you might get an error message saying that you need another code.
You can download the software for free if you call up Electronic Arts and have a brand new serial / code. What you really pay for when you buy a game is the serial / code. That is like a receipt.
I am also having the same
I am also having the same issue... I have the same system info... I don't get it?
If I buy this game used on,
If I buy this game used on, lets say ebay, Will it still work on my computer if it was installed on another computer and they used the activation code, installment code or what ever code? Will I have to get a new code of any kind before I buy used?
re: Not Reading Disc after Install [Advent Shadow]
Hi Advent Shadow. I assume you have not switched external drives since installing the game?
Checkout this Mac guide on how to run The Sims without the launcher.
NOTE: In the thread they talk about The Sims 3. Sims 3 and Medieval work the same way.
- When reading the forum post, substitute “The Sims 3” with “The Sims Medieval”.
- Also substitute “TS3.exe” with “TSm.exe”.

Not Reading Disc after Install
Im not to sure if this has been asked yet but after Installing it to my MAC it just wont read the disc when I go to play. It asks me to insert the disc even though its already in the drive. I have a MAC Book air and an External disc drive. I wasn't sure if that was to blame or if there was any solution at all.

.... okay tnx so much :)) ...

Hello angelika. You live in the Philippines? :-)
You can get in contact with Electronic Arts through their online chat. Just remember to have your Sims CD key/serial. They will ask you for it.

re: Terry
Hello Terry. It seems like you did everything that EA support would advise (fully update Mac Software and install Sims Medieval patch). This is another case where Sims Medieval will not play on a perfectly performing and fully updated Mac running OS X Lion. The EA/Sims development team still needs to release a patch that will work on all versions of OS Lion. Until then you can check out these 2 links…

Yes I downloaded the patch
Yes I downloaded the patch before I started playing the game, I just purchased it yesterday
re: Sims appear black or white and staticky [Terry]
Hi Terry. You have extraordinarily fast CPU for Sims Medieval standards. The Intel graphics cards aren’t that fast but you have the fastest Intel HD model available to date. Hardware-wise your Mac is easily above the minimum requirements.
Have you already fully update your Mac via “Software Update”? http://i.minus.com/igUOFFX0xYWnx.png
Also have you tried installing the Mac OS Lion patch? http://www.gamefront.com/the-sims-medieval-mac-v2-0-114-patch/
Sims appear black or white and staticky
Hi Joey, I just downloaded the sims medieval game, I thought I had all the minimum requirements but its not working ok because my sims appear black or white, and they are also transparent sometimes. I called EA support but they couldnt help me much.
Here is my system info:
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)
Thank You!
re: Installation problem,“Please Insert Disk 1" [angelika]
You are not the only one with this issue. Probably over 100 more people with your exact problem when trying to install Sims Medieval using the discs they bought.
The solution: Call up Electronics Arts. Tell them your problem. They might ask you for your Sims Medieval CD key, give it to them. Then they will email you a link to download Sims Medieval online and probably give you a new key for the download version.

re: . HELP ... PLS. =(( [angelika ]
Hi angelika. Did you buy the Sims Medieval disc or did you buy the digital download version?
re: Mac is updated and I had tried that patch already [Guest]
If that doesn't work then the problem really is on Electronics Arts side. You have a good system and did everything to your Mac to make it run. The Sims Medieval programmers need to release another patch that you and a ton of other Mac OS Lion users are having.
Until then get in touch with the EA Sims development team. Maybe they have a new patch I don't know about or some other fix.
I took the info below from the EA Sims Medieval support page...
“Q: How can I help the dev team resolve my issues?”
“A: Let us know what issues you're running into at https://help.ea.com/connect-with-us. You'll be put in contact with an EA advisor who can examine your game files and work to find a solution.”
