Portal 2 System Requirements (Can’t play it on your computer?)
The original Portal won awards for the storyline, gameplay and music.
Portal 2 does not disappoint. It is a fun game with cool graphics and unique puzzles. It is a game that you can actually let small kids play without having to worry about graphic violence within gameplay. If the original Portal installed and ran fine on your PC there is a chance the new Portal 2 might not. The system requirements have been raised.

Hi Deklan. You have a fast CPU and more RAM than any of those games need. The only other hardware part I am wondering about is the graphics card. What graphics card do you have?

I recently downloaded portal 2 and Serious Sam 3 BFE both of them run up until the menu, then it crashes and restarts my computer. I can however play team fortress 2 without any problems. Can you please help me? Here are my pc specs - maybe something is incompatible? Thanks a lot, Deklan

Hi Jamie. I researched this issue since I am not familiar with the PS3 problem (I don't own a PS3 either). I found other people on the net had the exact problem. They resolved it by contacting Electronic Arts, telling them the situation, then getting assigned a new Key.

Installation of Portal 2
My son has just purchased Portal 2, and when he installed it, it says it has to be played on PS3 first. We don't a PS or know any one who does. Is there away around this or do we return it to the store? The tears are flowing, he's not happy Jan.

I'm experiencing the same problem i think?
My computer is doing the same as theirs but when i went to the website it gave me a bunch of error messages saying my computer was either too old or too new. And that it cant tell me what else i need. I'm on a Dell Inspiron| 1501 with windows vista

If the site says your PC is borderline post here what it says for Processor, Memory (RAM) and Graphics Card. The site will tell you what you have.

Earlier this year there was a Software Update that was released specifically to fix gaming issues. It was not part of an OS upgrade. I recommend updating your Mac with all the latest updates. After your Mac is fully updated try the game again.

You don’t need Windows 7, Vista will do fine, even old XP will work. But you do need compatible PC hardware.

Have you tried updating your OS software? There has been at least 1 Mac OS update this year which fixes issues with newer games like Portal 2.

Portal 2 glitch
I am running an Imac, 10.7.1, Lion. When I got to Chapter five the program had a difficulty. When the lights go out the robot (Wheasley?) is supposed to rescue me with a light. On my computer the robot doesn't talk, help or do anything. The lights go out and nothing; darkness; forever.
Its frustrating. the game has stopped. Steam folks, via e-mail have had me reload the program, reload steam, to no avail.
Its also frustrating, dealing with e-mail, because I wait a day between messages. Its going on 10 days without an answer. Any ideas?

My laptop is a disaster and very slow so the game lags horribly and the loading screen stops permentantly.

This confused me as well, but I think I may have found a workaround. Rather than typing in the activation code, run the installer that Steam came from again. It should start installing. Now, the process has not been completed yet for me, so I cannot say whether it is actually installing from the DVD, but the process takes a much shorter amount of time, so I assume it is less than 11GB of installing space. This was on a Mac, so again, it may not work, but it doesn't hurt to try.
NOTE: For me it goes super fast up to 66%, but is going much slower now.

Hi Bonana,
The makers of Portal 2 don’t have their act straight. I checked on Amazon and Steam. Both places sell the game and both places list different requirements. One says 10.6.7 and the other says 10.6.6.
From what I heard there are graphics issues with Macbook Pros that were resolved in the 10.6.7 update. I am not sure if those problems stretch out to other Macs or if it is just limited to the Macbook Pros.
I recommend updating your Mac to the latest update.

What does it say for your CPU, RAM and Graphics Card ?
I also need to know what version of Windows you are running, Windows 7, Vista or XP? Or maybe you are running a Mac? If you are running a Mac I need to know what OS you are running.
Problems seeing the screen
I downloaded Portal 2 and started it. The main menu showed, but when I tried to start actually playing the game the screen was just black. I can hear the sounds and move around and stuff, but I can't see anything! What do you think is wrong?
