I have a question for you, how do you disable programs from starting up on their own? Do you use the Run Command “MSConfig” OR do you use some sort of 3rd party software like CCleaner?

    Hi Rojo!

    Here is what to Disable…

Raptr Desktop App – When you need to use this, just open it up.

Catalyst Control Center – Just right-click an empty space on your desktop for an option on ATI graphics if you need to mess with the Catalyst Control Center.

HP Message Service – This reminds you to go buy stuff from them. It is adware.

brs (Cyberlink) – I assume this is a video player? I see no reason for anything from Cyberlink to be always on.

Delayed AppStarter.exe – It helps you get connected to a Wireless router when you first setup your laptop. Also, I know you know more than enough about PCs to take the extra 4 seconds to go into your network settings and open it up if you ever want to connect to a new wireless. You don’t need this at all.

I am not sure about these. So keep them until you find out exactly what they do.

    Persistence Module (Intel)

    hkcmd (Intel)

I skipped over stuff I see you already disabled. No need to go into those individually, I agree with your choice to disable them.

When I joined there was no such thing as a phone app for this site. Now I see that is they main way you sign up. But I found a workaround. You can sign in with a Twitter account. I created a separate Twitter account for these kinds of purposes that I only use to sign up for sights. You can do the same. Click on Sign In, then go to the Twitter option.

When I go from a major Windows upgrade on my home computers, I always do a backup of my important files, then format my hard drive(s) and install the latest Windows from scratch. This has always prevented those type of problems from happening to me. I know Microsoft clams that there should be no problems when performing a simple upgrade, but I don’t believe them. Clean installs is the only way I go on my home PCs.

I am not sure on how exactly one would check a graphics card’s health status but there is something that all the geeky gamers do which can help save you from a disaster. You can monitor your graphic card’s temperature and fan speed using free apps like CPU-Z. After a while you will get used to your graphic card’s average working temperature while playing Tera or other games and also know the average fan speed while playing games. If one day you notice that one day your graphics card’s GPU temperature is absurdly high, exit whatever game or program you are using ASAP. Also, if you notice one day that one of the graphics card fans is not being detected or displayed on your monitoring app, then close everything fast, your GPU is about to overheat due to a dead fan.

For image hosting sites, I have been using http://minus.com/ for about 5 years now to upload images, it works good and is free.
Come to think of it, I can’t believe I have been using Minus.com that long. But I checked my page at: http://cleartechinfo.minus.com/ and it says the first image I uploaded is 5 yrs old. Time just flies by.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something Rojo…
When playing Tera and doing things like SCNM/HM where all those mobs start attacking or in Gridiron where all those people are fighting in the middle at once, expect your FPS to drop to single digits. To combat this I change my in-game graphic settings from High to Preset 0 or Preset 1. At the same time I set my MaxView distance to near max. This helped me a lot.

    Hey Rojo,

What exactly is happening? Is it only really slow when a certain program or 2 is opened? Or is it really slow during startup, but is okay after a few minutes after startup? Or is the system starting to crash?

    Hi Bluedeath54,

    Your PC hardware specs…
CPU: AMD E-300 APU 1.3 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
    GRAPHICS: AMD Radeon HD 6310

The PC specs above are borderline for Crysis 3, but it will run on your computer if you use the lowest Crysis 3 in-game graphic settings and do the following…
Step 1 – Download and install the latest AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphic drivers. Get them here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Step 2 – Once the AMD graphic drivers are fully installed, Restart your PC. This will guarantee the new drivers are 100% installed and working.

Step 3 – Download / Install “Razor Cortex”. Get it here: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex

Step 4 – Open up Razor Cortex and click on “BOOST” which is located at the top. Then click on the “BOOST NOW!” green button. This will temporarily optimize your PC for playing games.

    Step 5 – Run Crysis 3

Step 6 – Before you play Crysis 3, go into the graphic settings. Set everything to the lowest possible.

Please Note: Performing steps 1-6 will ensure you get the least amount of lag. But please, do not expect miracles. The AMD E-300 APU is the bottleneck and will be working overtime to run Crysis 3. So expect some lag, mostly in the highly graphical areas while fighting multiple people.

    Hello,

If you disable “Hardware Acceleration” being used to process Flash videos, there is a good chance it will solve your problem.

Checkout the instructions I gave a Windows 10 user that was having trouble playing Flash videos on Facebook. Please Note, even though I was specific in saying it would solve his Facebook problem, in reality it solves Flash video playback problems on a lot of sites that use Adobe Flash technology.

    http://www.cleartechinfo.com/topic/facebook-videos-not-playing

For Step #5, instead of going on Facebook, go on whatever site is giving you problems and play a video.

    Hello,

Here is a possible solution to this Windows 10 problem when using Google Chome…

Step 1 – Open up Chrome and type this text within the address bar, the same place you would type in a website address: chrome://settings/

Step 2 – Your Chrome Settings page is now opened. Scroll all the way down and click on the “Show advanced settings…” text link

Step 3 – Advanced Settings are now unlocked. Scroll all the way down again. Under “System” you will see an optioned named “Use hardware acceleration when available”. UNcheck that box.

Step 4 – New text will appear right after the “Use hardware acceleration when available” text. It will say something like (requires Chrome restart). “restart” is a text link, click that. If you do not see this text link then just complexly close Google Chrome, wait 2 seconds then open it up once more.

Step 5 – Go on Facebook and view videos

    A YouTube user asks…
How do you level your characters? You do the story quests, dungeons, power lvling?? Can you tell me the fastest way??

    ANSWER:
When I was a nub in 2013, the first 2 toons I leveled were Slayer and Warrior. I wanted to experience everything Tera had to offer, so I did all storyline quests and some regular quests. I also did all dungeons.

After 2 toons I was tired of questing and dungeons all the time. So I powerleveled all of my toons from #3 to my current lowbies, Zerker and Priest.

For powerleveling here is what I do..

Start off at level 1 by completing every quest in the newbie area. Then continue to Velika and complete every quest there. There is 1 Velika quest that is very important since it expands your bag inventory. You can also further expand your inventory on the spot by purchasing extra rows, with the same NPC as the inventory quest.

    – Then head off to Lumbertown (a Velika quest should point you there) and farm “Warthogs” or whatever they are called. Do this until level 14.

    – At level 14 go South of Cresentia and farm “Ravenous Hyenas”. Do this until level 20.

    – At level 20 run the first dungeon “Bastion of Lok” 3 times. While you are waiting in que for the dungeon, farm “Basilisks” in “Oblivion Woods”. This is the area where the BoL dungeon portal is.

-+- From there follow this guide. It is not mine, but it is a good one to follow: http://j.mp/Tera-plvl

-+- Do this until level 60. At level 60 look in your bag. It will give you a scroll that teleports you to Velika outskirts, near some docks. Follow that storyline quest to level 65.

    Side Notes:
    – You can do MOB and/or BAM grinding. I do both. Sometimes I get tired of MOBs, so I do BAMs and vice versa.
    – When you are waiting for a dungeon que to pop, do something productive and farm mobs or BAMs. Never AFK while waiting for ques to pop since sometimes they never do or they could take an hour if you are a dps.
    – I do dungeons while plvling for 3 reasons…
#1 they drop free Armor that you need (hands, feet and chest). The best weapons are the Avatar weapons you will acquire avatar tokens/credits to get a free avatar weapon every few levels when killing mobs, bams and creatures inside dungeons.
#2 The first 2-3 passes in dungeons give you a LOT of XP
#3 Sometimes I get bored powerleveling on my own. So I join dungeons to take a break and be part of a group.

The GTX 750 Ti graphics chipset is an excellent choice at the 170 Euors price range, it would be my pick at that range.
You might want to checkout the PNY VCGGTX750T2XPB-OC GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB. Same base chipset, but this one might be a little faster. Not sure if it will be that much of a noticeable difference though.

AMD Radeon HD 6670 vs MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti
You will notice a big different between these 2 cards. The games you could only play in Low graphic settings with the Radeon HD 6670 will now be running at Medium settings with the GTX 750 Ti. Some game that the HD 6670 could not run will now be playable.

    Hi Rojo!

My PC tends to freeze during the Summer. Hot weather (over 90 F) combined with CPU and/or Graphic intensive tasks (video encoding, playing newer games on high settings) is a good way to freeze my PC. This particularly happens because the room my PC is in does not have A/C and is not properly ventilated. So my PC acts like a heater, further increasing the room temperature.

Here is what I do to minimize my computer freezing during the summer…
    – Clean/Dust off the inside of my PC with a can of compressed air, aka “air duster”. Use the can to blow out all of the dust inside your case no matter the location of the dust. My 3 main focus areas I go over several times is the power supply, CPU and graphic card fans and surrounding areas.
    – Point a room fan at your PC’s intake fan. Don’t forget, intake fan, not the fan that blows all the hot air out. If your PC does not have an intake fan then point a room fan at the front of the case (for laptops it is probably one of the sides).
    – (Laptops Only) Buy and use a “Laptop Cooling Pad”, especially if you place the laptop on your lap.

Since your PC is a laptop you just have to be a little more delicate when cleaning the dust off. But do this at least once a month during the Summer. Your laptop intake fan will be small when comparing it with PCs and as I said above it will probably be on one of the sides. If it is not on the sides then check the front.

A YouTube user asked if there is any way to purchase Tera EMP with Steam. Yes, you can purchase EMP with Steam Wallet if you installed Tera via Steam.

To Buy EMP via Steam Wallet:
Step 1: Log into Tera, play any of your toons
Step 2: Go into the in-game EMP Store.
Step 3: While in the in-game EMP store, on the bottom you will see an option to “Buy EMP”, click that
Step 4: Just follow the on-screen instructions to buy EMP and select the Steam Wallet option for method of payment

Everyone Please Note: This only works if you installed Tera via Steam or have Tera connected to your Steam account. If you are like me and have Steam and Tera but installed Tera via the Tera site, it will not work.

    Hi Pearl,

The keyboard not working until you clear the cache sounds kind of suspicious, like some malicious software (aka “malware”) is messing with your computer. I suggest scanning your Acer laptop with 3 malware/spyware/virus scanners. All 3 of these have free versions. So just download and use the free versions, no need to purchase anything.

    1st use – http://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/
    2nd – http://superantispyware.com/download.html
    Last – https://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit+free/?lng=en

Even if the first 2 find and remove threats to your PC, please still use the last one. Each program may catch threats to your PC that the others miss.

There chance you will be able to recover Firefox bookmarks, but it is not 100%.

You need to find File Recovery software that can recover Firefox bookmarks. The extension for Firefox bookmarks is “.json”.

I know of 2 free recovery software programs (there may be more free ones, I just know of 2), “Recuva” and “Wise Data Recovery”.

Here are instructions on how to use Recuva. It is the more complicated of the 2.

Step 1: Download / Install “Recuva” from here: http://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds
(Download the “Installer” version unless you are familiar with portable apps)

    Step 2: Run the program.

Step 3: Click the checkbox titled “Do not show this Wizard on Startup.” Then click the “Cancel” button

Step 4: Go to options > Actions and check everything under the “Actions > Scanning” category. Click the “OK” button

Step 5: In the text input box on the right type in the characters “.json” without the parenthesis.

Step 6: Click the “Scan” button. Now wait. This may take an hour or 2.

Step 7: When the scan is completed it may show a lot of different files that are not relevant to what you want. Search through the files and look for any files that are named SIMILAR (but not the same) as this “bookmarks-2015-05-24_8.json”.

Step 8: If you find a winner, click the checkbox near the filename then click the “Recover” button

You can also try Wise Data Recovery. Get it from here: http://www.wisecleaner.com/download.html

Not sure if those 2 programs will work for your specific situation but it does not hurt or cost anything to try with them.

A YouTube user asked if I could write a summary of all the things you need to do in Tera after you hit max level 65. So I took some time to write up a mini guide. This topic is on my list of Tera video tutorials to create but until then everyone can checkout this guide I created below. If you have been playing Tera for a while and see I missed something please feel free to add to this mini guide by replying below.

What To Do After I Hit Level 65 in Tera? aka I’m Level 65, Now What?

    * Be sure to fully complete the level 60+65 story quest and at least 1 Sabex Armory dungeon run by the time you hit level 65.
    – Why do this? After completing the above tasks you will receive a full level 65 starter gear set in the mail called “Idoneal”. Idoneal gear is pretty decent and good to have until you are able to farm higher level gear.

    * Run lvl 61+ “Sabex Armory” & lvl 64+ “Macellarius Catacombs” dungeons 1x per day for Glyph boxes, UNTIL you unlock all of your Glyphs
    – Why do this? These 2 dungeons are guaranteed to drop several free Glyph boxes 1x/day. Glyphs enhance your skill abilities (hit harder in PvP,/PvE, reduce cooldowns, enhance healing, etc).

    * From level 60+ always do Vanguard Initiative dailies, every day. Never stop.
    – Why do this? After completing each Vanguard Initiative daily, you receive “Vanguard Initiative Credits”. Vanguard Initiative Credits are used to purchase endgame crystals aka “Niveots” for PvE and PvP. They are also used to purchase “Masterwork Alkahest Boxes”. Niveots and Masterwork Alkahest boxes are tradable so besides using the items for yourself you can also sell them on the trade broker. You will also receive feedstock for completing most dailies. Feedstock is very important material you will need for higher end gear no matter if you are PvP or PvE.

    * Join a guild. If you are not already part of a guild join one of the placeholder “Enlightened Union” guilds. You auto-join them.
    – Why do this? Being part of one of the Enlightened Union guilds or a guild that is part of the Enlightened Union Alliance gives you a permanent buff that increases your Vanguard Initiative (also PvP battleground) credits by 5%. 5% might not be much but it does add up and is worth it.

    * Buy all the proper endgame PvE and/or PvP Niveots / Vysks from the Vanguard Initiative vendor.
    – Why do this? People forming PvE dungeon and PvP battleground parties will only allow you to join if you have the proper crystal setup. If not you will be bringing down the effectiveness of their group (not enough dps, not enough healing, not enough tank aggro).

_____Proper PvE crystal setup for Dungeons_____
    –DPS–
Weapon: Bitter, Savage, Focused, and Carving/Pounding/Forceful
    Chest: Fine Hardy Niveot x4
Earrings / Rings: Carving or Powerful Vyrsks x4

    –TANK—
Weapon: Fine Threatening Niveot x4 (Can sub 1 Threatening for a Fine Focused)
Chest: Chest: Fine Hardy Niveot x4
Earrings / Rings: Threatening Vyrsk x4

    — HEALER –
Weapon: Fine Swift Niveot, Fine Brilliant Niveot x3 (Can sub 1 Brilliant for a Fine Carving)
Chest: Chest: Fine Hardy Niveot x4 (Can sub 1 Hardy for a Fine Fleetfoot)
Earrings / Rings: Succoring Vysrk x4

_____Proper PvP crystal setup for Battlegrounds_____
    — DPS —
Weapon: Savage, Forceful and 2 of the following Carving/Swift/Brutal/Cruel
    Chest: Fine Relentless Niveot x4
Earrings / Rings Pristine Griefing Zyrkx4 (buying these from the trade broker is the fastest/easiest way to get these)

    — HEALER —
Weapon: Fine Swift Niveot, Fine Brilliant Niveot x3 (Can sub 1 Brilliant for a Fine Carving)
Chest: Fine Relentless Niveot x4 (Can sub 1 Relentless for a Fine Fleetfoot)
Earrings / Rings: Grounding, Swift Vysrk or Succoring x4 (Grounding if you are having trouble staying alive, Swift to get off your heal animations faster, Succoring to increase healing)

    — DPS for CHAMPIONS SKYRING which does not allow charms or pots –
Weapon: Fine Salivating Niveot x1 (Replenishes mana)
Chest: Fine Grieving Niveot x1 (Replenishes mana)
** If you are a Healer and have mana problems use the same Niveots above

    * Run the Alliance Vault as many times as you can per day. Solo vault has a 2 hour cooldown. 5 man vault does not have any cooldown but you must have a to enter each time. You can stop running Alliance Vault once you have all of your jewelry, Brooch and Renegade belt.
    – Why do this? Solo & 5-man Alliance Vaults drop level 65 rings and earrings (Idoneal rings/earrings are level 64). You need these level 65 rings and earrings to equip level 65 jewlery crystals aka “Vyrsk”. These vaults also drop Renegade belts and Brooches (more gear to increase your stats)

    * Run the Dungeon Ravenous Gorge 4x/day. Does not matter if you are PvE or PvP.
    – Why do this? Running this dungeon will not only give you Vanguard Initiative credits for each completed pass but that is not the most important reason to run this dungeon. You will receive feedstock during the run and feedstock as a Vanguard Initiative reward daily quest reward. This is the primary method I farm feedstock.

    * Once you get all of the Niveots you need from the Vanguard Initiative vendor, keep on accumulating credits. But be aware that it caps at 9,000. So when you hit around 8,500 credits I recommend buying some extra Niveots and/or Master Alkahest Boxes and sell them on the broker. Use the gold you earn to purchase Master Enigmatic Scrolls or Blessed Enigmatic Scrolls. But don’t go too crazy, you will need the credits to buy lots and lots of Masterwork Alkahest boxes.

*-*-*-*- What are Masterwork Alkahest, Feedstock and Master/Blessed Enigmatic scrolls so important??? *-*-*-*-
When getting endgame PvE/PvP gear or the tier right below it, you are going to want to “enchant” it. Enchanting your gear brings out more stats and also raises the stats, so you hit your skills harder and are tougher to kill. But to enchant your gear you will need Masterwork Alkahest, Feedstock and Master/Blessed Enigmatic scrolls.

Thank you for the detailed post. I see at step 3 you ran a “64-bit Installer”. Try it again but this time run a 32-bit installer. On your computer you have a 64 and a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer. The 64-bit versions are not fully compatible with everything. That might be the reason you are running into problems. Also before you run step 3 be sure to uninstall Adobe Flash like I showed you in the video you watched on YouTube.

When you have run all steps open up Internet Explorer 32-bit. Here is the location of IE 32-bit within your Windows 8.1 computer:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

If it still does not work then try the solution posted by our site member named “littlebluedg”. Try it only with Internet Explorer 32-bit. http://www.cleartechinfo.com/topic/solution-flash-videos-not-playing-in-ie-11
(His solution will not work unless you go through the steps I have listed first like installing the latest 32-bit Flash, not 64.)

Btw, I erased your email address from your post. You don’t need to publicly display it. Solicitors that have nothing to do with this site scan forums and harvest email addresses so they can send you junk emails aka “SPAM”. Any members on this site that want to contact you can easily do so by posting on this forum. This goes for every site on the Internet, not just this one.

Hi! Please do the following so I can get more information from your computer…
Step 1 – Hold Down the “Windows Key” on your keyboard then tap the “R” key
Step 2 – Type in the new dialogue box that pops up “dxdiag” and click “OK”
Step 3 – Click the button on the bottom button that says, “Save All Information…”
————A text file will be created, save it to your Desktop
Step 4 – Open the text file. Under the “System Information” COPY everything from “Operating System” down to “DxDiag Version:”. PASTE that information here so we can see it to properly diagnose your problem.

If Adobe Flash was updated to the latest version server-side, have the technicians revert it back to whatever version you were using before the latest update.
    OR
If Adobe Flash has not been updated to the latest version server-side, have the technicians update Flash to the latest update.
