    Supz dude,

Try accessing Hotmail through “outlook.com” and “mail.live.com”. They are all owned by Microsoft so you should be able to access Hotmail through those URLs.

TronScript seems intense and thorough. I am very interested to see how it worked out for you. Depending how it went for you I might add it on my list of recommendations especially since it includes 2 of my favorite programs, Kaspersky and Malwarebytes.

    Hi Layne,

Thanks for posting your desktop PC specs. It helps a lot. Your Windows PC will run The Sims 4. Just be aware you might have to update to the latest AMD Radeon HD 7540D graphic drivers. This is a free software upgrade. You get the latest graphic drivers for your specific setup here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Do not go to any other place for AMD Radeon graphic drivers or else you might have serious problems including a new virus downloaded to your PC.

    Hello,

Here is what I would do in the situation where a single user profile is messed up and can’t be fixed…
1 – Login to any other account on your computer that has Administrator privileges (you mentioned being able to create a new account, I assume that account is an Administrator)
2 – Go in the “C:\Users” directory for that particular user that is not working properly and backup any important files that may be in there (backup the files onto a portable USB drive)
3 – Last, go into the Control Panel, to the same option screen where you would create an account but this time select to Delete the corrupted account. It will give you 2 options, I forgot the exact wording it uses but select the harshest sounding one, that will fully wipe out the problem account
    4- Restart your PC
5 – You can now create a new account to replace the bad one you deleted

So the new NIC card you installed was causing all of the issues. Weird. I have had NICs mess up on me before but they usually just die. That is a unique issue. Glad you figured it out.

btw, thanks a ton for coming back here and posting the exact solution to the problem. I am sure there are other people with the same problem that can’t figure out how to fix it.

    Hi Skypilot,

Thanks for posting your PC specs. I see your computer can easily handle Adobe Flash video streams no matter how high quality they are, assuming your Internet speed is fast enough.

For the main issue I am thinking it might be anti-virus / security software or some sort of advertisement / pop-up blocker that works with Internet Explorer. A lot of ads and pop-up are now in the Adobe Flash format. So if some program or plug-in on your computer blocks these ads it might mistakenly be messing up the video streaming on some (not all, just some) websites like newsanewtv.com. Please note, the software or plug-in that is messing with Flash video streaming may have been installed unintentionally via a toolbar. A lot of toolbars out there offer extra “features” like pop-up and ad blocking.

When you reformatted your PC the extra security, plug-in or toolbar software was probably not reinstalled for a while. Then after it was installed it started messing up the Flash video on the news site you listed.

My recommendation: Go through any software on your PC that even remotely can fit into at least one of the following categories and make a list of everything you found…
    Anti-Virus (anti-malware, anti-spyware)
    Firewall
    Security suite
    Toolbar
Other Internet Explorer plug-ins or enhancements that do not come installed when you first download the software from Microsoft
    Pop-up blocker
    Ad blocker

Next step: Test each one by completely exiting the program or toolbar essentially turning it off, then go on the news site you listed and try to watch a video. See which one is causing the issue. When you found the culprit you can uninstall it OR there may be a way to put the news site on a “whitelist” so the software that is causing a problem will just ignore the news site.

Alternative Solution that Might work: The software or plug-in causing the program might only mess with Internet Explorer. So if by any chance it only messes with Internet Explorer you can download/install the free Google Chrome and view newsanewtv.com on it. A cool thing about Google Chrome is that it has Adobe Flash built into it. You never have to manually update it since it always installs the latest Adobe Flash update on its own.

That’s a lot of different problems. Have you thought of formatting your PC and reinstalling Windows from scratch? They also call this, “reformatting”, “reimaging” or “full Windows recovery”. This is what I do at work if I see that an individual computer is filled with tons of problems and will probably take too much of my time away while I fix other computers at my job. I would especially recommend this from the problem that you fixed just by pulling out the cord from your cable modem. It seems like there is some sort of additional spyware inside your PC that might steal info like passwords or other personal data. The 100% sure way to destroy this threat is to wipe out your PC and install Windows from scratch.

Before you wipe out your Windows install make sure to backup any important data you may have. Then use the Windows disc (sometimes called recovery disc) that came with your PC when you bought it to reinstall Windows.
On some PCs that disc is built into your hard drive which you can easily access. When your PC turns on you will see some sort of message on the screen that says something like, “Press F11 for System Recovery” flash on the screen for just a second. Press whatever button it tells you to press to access it.

During the recovery process it will ask you what type of Windows System Recovery you want. Look at the 2 or 3 options it has and select the one that sounds the harshest. It might say something like “destructive reinstall”, select the harshest sounding option. That will kill any type of virus, malware or spyware your PC has.

Yeah, that CPU usage for just torrenting is way too high. I say it is a virus since you already been checked the inside to make sure you don’t have a dead fan.

There is 1 last anti-virus scanner I use which I have not suggested yet, Kaspersky Anti-Virus / Kaspersky Internet Security. I am not sure which anti-virus scanner you have running in the background or if you have one at all but IMO Kaspersky is the best one. It’s the one I always have running on my desktop and laptop. I just didn’t suggest it before since you have to pay for it. But I found a trial link from the company that will allow you to run a full version of Kaspersky Internet Security for 30 days for free. Uninstall whatever anti-virus program you have running in the background before you install Kaspersky. After Kaspersky is installed make sure you run a Full/Thorough computer scan.
    http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/index.aspx

btw, there is at least 1 virus out there that masks itself under svchost.exe. Last time I dealt with that virus was about 6 years ago. Not sure if Kaspersky removed it at the time or if I had to reformat the PC at my job that had it.

ALTERNATIVELY, Kaspersky offer a free “Virus Removal Tool” program. This one I have never used but heard many good things about it. You can try this first, if it does not work then go the full version trial linked above.

Rojo is correct, this could also be due to a fan failure inside your PC case. With the PC turned OFF, open up your PC case. When it is opened turn on your PC and Observe every fan in there. Focus on the PC fan that is on top of your CPU and also the one that is inside of the power supply. But there are probably several other fans inside your case that could be dead, so look everywhere for a dead fan.

A second thing Rojo hit on is cleaning the inside of your PC. Heat is a huge reason most PCs overheat. While the PC case is open grab a couple of cans of compressed and blow away all the dust. As the can us blowing/dusting the inside of the case switch out to a new can after the one you are holding gets too cold.

If you don’t know what compressed air is here is a popular brand on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1AixIm4

    Hello Hello 🙂

I have seen this problem in the past. It was due to some sort of virus or malware. When you used Superantispyware and Malwarebytes did you use the Full/Thorough scans when using each program? For problems like this the Quick scans are useless. So if you haven’t used the Full/Thorough option on each program please do so.

After running both programs using the Full / Thorough scans, did it find and take care of any viruses or malware? If not then use the 3rd program below.

Dr. Web CureIt, the free version: http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/?nc=t&lng=en
    – After you download the free version of Dr. Web Cure it, close down all programs on your PC that are anti-virus, malware and spyware scanners.
    – Open up Dr. Web Cure It.
    – Click on the Green Text Link that says “Select objects for scanning”, it will take you to the Custom scan options Window.
    – Make sure every checkbox is checked. Once everything is checked hit the large “Start scanning” button

This scanner will take a while to complete, maybe an hour or 2, but this is a very good program that compliments Superanitspyare and Malwarebytes.

    Hello,

Before you try to install Adobe Flash again make sure that all versions are uninstalled. Most computers have at least 2 installed. Use the free app IObit Uninstaller to scan your PC and thoroughly uninstall anything related to “Adobe Flash” and “Adobe Shockwave”. During the uninstall process the program might take you to an additional “Powerful Scan”, delete everything it finds.

Go through the process again until all versions are uninstalled. Once all versions are uninstalled restart your PC. Last, install the latest version of Adobe Flash.

Here is the free version of IObit Uninstaller: http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/iobit_uninstaller_portable

Download the latest version of Adobe Flash here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

    Hello,

I am not sure what Adobe software you are talking about. They probably have around 50+ different programs.

In general I don’t use the Windows 7 uninstaller to uninstall anything. I use the free app I/O Bit uninstaller. It is a much better uninstaller than the standard Windows uninstaller.

Here is a link to the free version I use:

Sorry, I was not specific enough…
The instructions I gave above will allow you to unlock your pen drive so you will be able to format it. When you format the drive it will erase everything on it, including the virus.

In case the above scenario does not work or your pen drive does not have a physical lock switch on it there is another way I have gotten rid of this virus in my experience. This is more thorough and it scans your entire computer…
#1 – Install and use “Kaspersky Internet Security” or “Kaspersky Anti-Virus”. Before you install it you must uninstall whatever anti-virus program you may have. Then download Kaspersky from here: http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/free-home-trials/internet-security
    – After you install Kaspersky you must restart your PC
    – Then plug in your Pen Drive into your computer. It will scan it.
    – Last, perform a FULL SCAN using Kaspersky. This may take over an hour the first time but it is worth it
Note: It is only a 30-day trial but all you really just need it for a day.

On many pen drives I have owned there was a write protection switch or button right on the drive itself. Grab the pen drive and look it over. The write protection switch will be very small on the drive.

    Hi Pearl,

I am not sure what wireless router you own, but there is something you can adjust on your wireless router to fix the problem on your laptop.

Go into the Wireless router options page and adjust the wireless signal settings to “Wireless N” for Wireless Mode and “5 GHz” for Frequency. No need to change the wireless name or password, keep that the same. This will prevent your microwave from interfering with your laptop and all other wireless devices.

Your friend knows what he is talking about. Currently that is one of the best graphic cards for the money. The video card you have is what the techies call a “dedicated video/graphics card”. It does not share any memory with Windows since it has its own memory built in. This is a good thing. Dedicated graphic cards are better than the ones that are built-in and share memory with Windows. If you play PC games you really want a dedicated graphics card like yours, it will outrun any shared memory graphics card.

So this solves your problem, it’s not that you were not looking correctly in the BIOS it is that the option with that graphics card does not exist.

If you want to look at how much VRAM you AMD Radeon R9 285 has you can look it up the same way you did the model number, use the “dxdiag” command I showed you in the tutorial linked above. The option will be under the “Display 1” tab categorized as “Approx. Total Memory”. I am guessing the R9 285 has about 2 GB of RAM which will be listed around 2048 MB.

Btw, if you want to make your games go faster there might be a way you can “overclock” your graphics card GPU and VRAM. But please think twice before you do this because if you overclock too high you can kill your graphics card and you will have to buy another one. Ask the friend that recommended the graphics card to come by your home and do this for you, he can teach you how to overclock safely with software.

    Hello,
What video card do you have? Here is a guide I created that will show you how to lookup this info really fast without having to download anything: http://www.cleartechinfo.com/how-to-quickly-find-windows-system-information-cpu-ram-graphics-card

The reason I want to know about your video card is because the one on your computer may have dedicated VRAM on it and does not share any RAM with your system. An example is the computer I am using right now, I built it with a dedicated video card. The video card I built it with has its own VRAM built in and does not share any system RAM. If you have a dedicated video card that option is either grayed out or not available since it does not apply.

I am not sure what exact Mac OS version you are using or if you are trying to install Adobe Flash on Safari, Firefox or some other browser but I will assume you have the latest Mac OS update and trying to install Flash on Safari.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to perform a fresh Adobe Flash install on the Mac.
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/5560631

I do see 1 problem with the guide, the Adobe Flash offline installer link is outdated and does not work. Instead download the latest Flash player from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
If the Adobe site does not automatically detect your Mac OS and browser then just pick the correct options within the 2 dropdown menus.

There is a safe way of using Adobe Flash without having to worry about every downloading anything bad.
Use the Google Chrome browser for every website that you need to use Adobe Flash on. You never have to download or install any Adobe Flash player on it because the web browser has it built in. Also when there is a new Adobe Flash update Google Chrome will automatically install it for you. So if you get any message on a website saying you need to update Flash you will know that the site or link is 100% bad and you never have to take a chance on those links again.

    Google Chome, free download: http://www.google.com/chrome/

A lot of Cable Internet companies offer Internet speeds up to 200 or 300 Mbps. I have Time Warner and they offer up to 300 Mbps download / 20 upload. When you order Internet from these companies they send you a modem that is capable of getting their top speeds. But if you don’t pay for their top speeds they slow down your Internet to the speed you are paying for.

For some weird reason when you mask your IP using a VPN Charter Communications has a hard time slowing your Internet speed down to 60 Mbps download. I really don’t know how or why this is happening since I just tested my Internet speed using all the 3 sites I gave you and my Internet actually slows down when using a VPN (I use Private Internet Access too). But then again I am using Time Warner and paying for their top 300/20 service so they don’t slow down my speeds at all.

    My recommendation:
Whenever you plan to download anything always use your VPN no matter what so you get the top speeds. Also use your VPN when you use Netflix or other video streaming services like YouTube since your stream will load faster due to your faster speed. Last, don’t mention your fast speeds to Charter or anyone else. Let them mess up and give you faster speeds that you are paying for 🙂

    Hello,

First I want to ask, what download and upload speeds are you paying Charter for? When you bought one of their plans they would have advertised the download and upload speeds for the price you are paying.

To make sure you are getting accurate numbers here is a thorough test you can perform using multiple test sites.
Step 1: Using any browser, Delete your web browser cache, history, cookies, everything.
Step 2: Test your Internet on each of the 3 sites I linked you to below (Do not use your VPN). Test them 1 at a time. Mark down what all of them rated download and upload speed.
Step 3: Again, fully Delete web browser cache, cookies, history, everything.
Step 4: Log into your Private Internet Access VPN
Step 5: Test your Internet speed on the same 3 sites again. Mark down what speeds you got.
    * After you are finished post here what speeds you got for all 3 sites without using the VPN and when you used the VPN

    Hi Bettye,

Google Chrome has Adobe Flash built into it. So even if you remove the flash player that you install from Adobe you will still have it. Use Mozilla Firefox. Flash should not work with this browser unless you purposely install it.
